Life & Work with Crystal Alexander of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Alexander

Hi Crystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The path to writing my book began after a traumatic event in 2005 when I was kidnapped by my ex-husband, an experience that nearly led to my death and triggered an Amber alert. I started writing during my trial as a way to heal from the abuse I had suffered. Although I never planned to become a self-published author, life unfolded in unexpected ways. I was a young mother, married too soon, and faced the tragic loss of my father and brother.
As I became a mother of five, I encountered the most heart-wrenching moment of my life when I lost my son to stage 4 cancer, holding him as he took his final breath. It was through writing that I found strength and helping me navigate the challenges I faced. believed that by sharing my story, I could reach out to both women and men who might relate to my experiences. My goal was to become an advocate, helping others understand that they are not alone. I wanted to be a voice for those who have suffered from sexual and physical abuse.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My life has been anything but a smooth path for both myself and my children. There were challenging times, and despite being married, I frequently felt alone. The partners I selected were not suitable, and my experiences with sexual, mental, and physical abuse left me struggling to trust. I often grappled with feelings of insecurity, always looking for reassurance from others that I was loved. I also struggled with suicide many times but my faith in god and my children are what kept me down the right path.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
While I proudly identify as an author today, my main commitment lies in being a momager for my daughter. I have a deep passion for talent management and love booking new opportunities. My experience also extends to the behind-the-scenes world, where I’ve helped direct, music videos, commercials and short films.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
California holds a special place in my heart. Growing up in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, surrounded by the desert, I find the weather in California absolutely more delightful. Waking up to the sight of palm trees is a daily joy, and it’s inspiring to see so many people out early, jogging or hiking. The atmosphere is filled with happiness and rich culture. However, I do have one dislike the traffic can be quite a hassle and I don’t think I will ever like the traffic.
