Today we’d like to introduce you to Croosh

Hi Croosh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started toying with GarageBand on my mom’s laptop when I was 14. Eventually, I got my own laptop and started taking producing more seriously. It wasn’t until I was around 17 that I decided to try adding vocals on my own production. By 19, I realized I could make a living off of music & that it could be more than just a hobby, so I dropped out of community college to pursue music full-time. Thats when I became an artist officially.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an artist, you don’t get promoted, you don’t get a raise, and there are no days off – so you have to give that to yourself. You have to know when to celebrate the small W’s and pat yourself on the back. If you’re only chasing that big moment of going viral/blowing up, etc. you will get burnt out. Some people think that because it’s not a corporate job, it’s just fun and games all of the time, but thats not the case. It’s a business, and you have to do a lot of things aside from making music to keep your business afloat.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Jamir Malek and I go by Croosh. I’m a fully independent producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, engineer, and performer. I have over 150 songs in my catalog, most of which are self-produced and around 300 million cumulative streams/plays across all platforms. I’m all over the place as far as genres go. I consider myself a method musician – every song is a movie, and in each one, I’m playing a different role.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The gut is wiser than the brain. Listen to your intuition, even if it doesn’t make logical sense in the moment. Everything is falling into place beautifully. Trust that what is meant to happen will happen.
