Life & Work with Carolina Rubalcava of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Rubalcava

Hi Carolina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Can I just start off by saying, Hi LA and Thank you for asking me back!

To sit and actually think about where I started and where i hope to go is honestly so humbling. I started as a terrified college kid at Cal poly Pomona, driven by a deep passion for music, art, and creativity—elements that are fundamental to who I am. As cliché as it may sound, the one thing I was always certain of was that I belonged in the art world. It’s what brings me joy, fuels my inspiration, and is one of my favorite ways of expressing love.

Since those early days, my career has taken me to unexpected places within the graphic design and photography industries. I’ve experienced the fast-paced agency life, I’ve freelanced and started my own mini agency as a passion project and then i had the pleasure of working for a national tv show, with some golf greats, restaurant design and marketing with some of the most talented people in their respective fields and now…

I find myself exactly where I always dreamed of being—working in the music industry with a company I truly believe in, surrounded by a workplace culture I once thought was too good to be real. I couldn’t be more grateful for this journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be completely transparent, the journey has not been without its challenges. I have faced difficult situations and have been tested along the way. However, I believe that such struggles are an inherent part of mastering any craft. As a Hispanic woman in a creative field, there have been unique challenges that I’ve had to navigate, but these experiences have ultimately strengthened my abilities. They have also taught me the importance of advocating for myself and ensuring that I never remain in an unhealthy work environment again. I like to view these obstacles as blessings in disguise, as they have contributed to my growth both personally and professionally.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of my favorite questions!

I work for an incredible company in the music space that is so far ahead in every way. I get to work in design, marketing, photography, content creation and elements of food and beverage (my former food photographer kicks in and it’s just fun). It’s the kind of work I love. I also enjoy working on my personal time in surreal art and makeup! I actually did makeup during college so It’s always fun to paint on my face and express my creativity in different mediums from time to time.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Happiness and Love.

I can say I am blessed to have an incredible job, with amazing coworkers. I have my health, my crazy huge family I adore, I am engaged to be married to the love of my life in 2025 and we have a pug baby named Orion who completes me. I may not be financially rich (yet.. we gotta manifest) but I have all the riches I hoped for.
