Hi Carolina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At 19, I left Lisbon, Portugal, and headed to lively Los Angeles, aiming to make it big in the entertainment world. I started at the bottom as a Production Assistant, soaking up everything I could on and off set. Slowly but surely, I worked my way up. Alongside my job as an assistant, I delved into acting and film studies, eventually earning a master’s degree in screenwriting. Despite the challenges of balancing academia and work, I never stopped chasing my creative dreams, producing my own short films, and collaborating on projects. 

Driven by my love for storytelling, I decided to create Lusitânia Studios, where I offer a range of film consulting services and collaborative opportunities to turn cinematic dreams into reality. Whether you need advice on your film project, seeking partnerships, or looking for help bringing an idea to life, Lusitânia Studios is here to support and inspire you every step of the way. From script development to production assistance, I am dedicated to helping filmmakers bring their visions to life and share our passion for storytelling with others. 

My journey from Lisbon to Los Angeles is a testament to the power of dedication and passion, and through Lusitânia Studios, I hope to keep the flame of creativity burning bright, guiding aspiring artists and keeping the magic of storytelling alive in film and acting. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t been smooth sailing, not by a long shot, and the challenges persist. Coming from abroad, I’ve encountered hurdles ranging from navigating the visa process and obtaining work authorizations to grappling with homesickness and cultural shock. Moreover, the entertainment industry itself is fiercely competitive. In such an environment, I’ve learned that accountability and hard work are non-negotiable. Rejection is part of it of course, but it’s crucial not to take it personally or let it define you. Instead, it’s about staying resilient, holding onto your sense of self and purpose, and remembering why you embarked on this journey in the first place. Only by staying focused on your vision and remaining true to yourself can you navigate the highs and lows of this demanding industry.

As a Portuguese writer deeply passionate about film and storytelling, I specialize in crafting historical fantasies infused with thrilling elements and the dramatic flair of telenovelas. Everywhere I go and in everything I write, I bring with me the rich history and background of Portugal, infusing my narratives with the vibrant tapestry of my homeland. 

What sets me apart is my unique ability to blend historical accuracy with imaginative twists, transporting audiences to different eras while pushing the boundaries of conventional storytelling. I am most proud of my dedication to showcasing Portugal’s history and background in my work, offering audiences a window into the soul of my country and the resilience of its people. Through my storytelling, I invite readers and viewers alike to embark on a journey of discovery, where the past intertwines with the present, to create stories that resonate across borders and generations. 

What do you think about happiness?
Happiness, for me, is all about the simple things that make life enjoyable. It’s the times spent with family and friends, whether it’s relaxing movie and wine nights or sharing good food and laughter that bring me the most joy. Pursuing my passions, like diving into creative projects or trying out new hobbies, gives me a sense of fulfillment and purpose. I find peace and tranquility in nature, whether it’s taking a dip in the ocean or watching a sunset. These moments, combined with good food and good company, create a sense of happiness that makes life truly fulfilling.
