Life & Work with Ana Leon of Los Angeles, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Leon

Hi Ana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Future Problems is an indie rock band comprised of Ana Leon on guitar and vocals, Victor Beber on synth and bass, and David Morales on drums. We began in the spring of 2022 as a duo, and David joined the band a year later. We’ve played various live shows in Southern California and we are independently recorded and produced by our talented friends. Lately we’ve been leaning into poppy/indie love songs, but we love to experiment with different sounds and ideas!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have a natural chemistry between the three of us that the music making and live show aspect of being a band has always been effortless. Things have pretty much always flowed smoothly for us. We’ve struggled insofar as logistics (time, money, availability, etc.). As long as you have fun with it and keep that as your north star, you can’t go wrong.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Ana Leon and I front the band Future Problems. I am the band’s vocalist and guitarist. We make indie rock that’s reminiscent of 2000s indie and alt rock. We’re all millennials who grew up with 2000s culture, so a lot of that influence shines heavily in our music. We make songs about being in love, coming of age, taking vacations, and heartbreak. Personally, I take pride in our unique sound that comes from the three of us. I write the majority of our songs, but when we play them together as a band it becomes it’s own thing. David and Victor bring their own unique take on these ideas and we end up with a distinct sound that is very true to us.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best thing about LA is literally everything. The worst thing is the traffic.
