Life & Work with Amanh of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanh.

Hi Amanh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Amanh Nathen, Originally from Seattle, WA. Moved to Los Angeles around 3 years ago. I am a musical artist, dancer and actor.
My whole life ( I am only 13 😉 ) I have been driven by music. My parents said I started dancing before I started walking. ( I mean literally 🙂 ) Music gets me hype especially when it is a fast paced beats. So my parents decided to put me in dance classes around the age 5 as they thought I have some special talent in it. I started off my first professional dance class with hiphop style. Eventually moving on to other styles like tap, ballroom, jazz, ballet, contemporary and even Bollywood. By the time, I turned 10yrs old I was fortunate to compete nationally and win titles like “Star Award” and “National Dancer of the year”.

Around the age 6 -6.5 yrs, my parents asked me to choose an instrument that I would love to learn and I picked Guitar because I thought it is cool to play the instrument as most of the rockstar has one. 🙂 So I started off with learning Guitar professionally as my first ever musical instrument ( which only lasted for 6 months as I started getting bored with it and my schedule got busy with dance. ) One day I tried playing the songs I learned in my guitar classes on my mom’s keyboard to give a surprise to my mom. Soon my mom realized that I could play any song by ear and has musical ear just like her.

Parallel to dance and music journey, I am also a robotic enthusiast who finds joy in creating actual physical products. It’s something many people don’t know about me. When I was around the age of 6 I was introduced to robotic classes at school and I was fascinated by the cool stuffs we can build. So my parents got me lego Boost creative toolkit and I started building various Robots you can build with. When I was around 8 years old, I got creative more and thought how about I make a robot that can dance like me and that will be a robotic version of me. So I added some dance move and my voice to it to sound like Amanh. 🙂

But then when pandemic happened and we all had to stay home, I happened to watch youtube video of little Lydian Nadhaswaram ( the music prodigy from India) and got obsessed with learning to master piano just like him. As I like to experiment things I started producing music using digital audio workstations like Ableton and composed and produced my first ever original song ”Apple Tree” when I was 10 years old. Since then I have been producing my own music. After moving to LA I have been fortunate to meet and work with some of the best teams from entertainment industries. I continue learning to grow my music, dance and acting abilities by taking up challenging projects which pushes me out of my comfort zones.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am usually positive about life. I do things that excites me. That does not mean that every time I got what I wanted. For the most part I was fortunate to have so many blessings in my life. When things happen the way I wanted I feel happy at that time. and I move on with next things. When things does not work the way I thought, I normally don’t talk/think too much about it and I move on with the next thing that excites me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work: I am an actor, dancer & a musical artist.
People say I have exceptional musicality which shows in my dancing as well as in music production. As I mentioned earlier, I started composing and producing my original songs since 9 yrs old. I am a multi-instrumentalist – I play piano, guitar and drums. My debut Single “Apple Tree” was released on my 10th birthday which was written, composed, produced and sang by me and I continued producing music since then. you can check out my music on streaming platforms like Apple Music under my name “Amanh Nathen”. I am excited to release some of my best music in the coming months.
I am also a born dancer. In the dance world, I won “National Dancer” title twice.
Just as much as I love dancing and music, I also like acting. I was fortunate to work with some of the best teams in the entertainment industry acting for national commercials ( representing brands like NIKE) and short films where I played lead roles.
I have been fortunate to voice for Netflix series – A Round of Applause ( voice for Teenage Metin) , Nickelodeon Promo and Netflix Film – In Good Hands2. I am awaiting the release of couple more films which is scheduled to be released this year- 2025.
My proudest moment – there are many. Every time I challenge myself and accomplish something I feel proud of myself. I feel proud when I make new music until I realize that I can do better. I have realized that I have grown a lot in my musical journey during the last year as compared to my old music.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to see positive side of everything and I tried to stay out of things that does not feel right.

What matters to me most is Respect. Respect for my self and respect for others.
My family, friends and music are everything to me.
