Life and Work with Nicole Morgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Morgan.

Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember I have loved doing hair. I’ve always been the one in my family doing everyone’s hair for almost every occasion. I also had the pleasure of doing my friends hair and make-up for school events. In 2012, I decided to walk away from my job at AAA and go to cosmetology school. While in school I learned much more than how to do hair. Cosmetology is the study of hair, skin and nails. I learned how to do men and women’s hair, skin care, make-up application and nail care. Prior to my graduation, I had the pleasure of working alongside of celebrity make-up artist AJ Crimson at the Beauty is
Love Lounge Pre-BET Awards event. It was an awesome experience. I graduated in July 2013 with a wealth of knowledge and so much excitement for what was to come. Since graduating I’ve worked in several hair salons, nail and skin care salons and currently I’m working at a barbershop. I’ve done tons of freelance work as well. I’ve had some ups and downs but persistence and love for the beauty industry keeps me going. I truly enjoy making each client that sits in my chair feel amazing. With all that I’ve experienced, I look forward to continuing my journey.

Has it been a smooth road?
One of the things I’ve learned is that when opposition comes, never give up. Early on in my career I encountered seasoned hair stylist/salon owners who claimed they wanted to help propel me to the next level but sometimes things don’t always go as planned. Some of the disappointment I’ve experienced has almost halted my progression but I never gave up. My advice is no matter what, keep moving forward.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hair and Makeup by Nicole (Ice Fade City Barbershop) – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in thermal and natural hair care. I also provide barbering and make-up services. I believe what sets me apart is my attention to detail and my willingness to learn.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Growing up in South Central Los Angeles life was competitive but my parents instilled in me a very young age that I don’t need to compete to be great. They taught me that it was room for everyone to shine. I keep that way of thinking very close to me to this very day.
