Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Washington.
Hi Kierra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles/Long Beach, California. Growing up, I saw my community and family impacted by struggles and brokenness. I knew by age seven that my goal in life was to help people, my people. How I planned to fulfill this goal evolved over the years, but the mission never changed
I attended Mount Saint Mary’s University to receive a B.S in Biology and an M.S in Health Policy and Management.
I am extremely thankful for all the knowledge and corporate experience I gained while in college and in the present day. Yet, even with the degrees and occupational success, there was still a gap and I realized I needed healing. Despite the external success, there was still an internal void, and I did not feel I was fulfilling my life’s purpose. I began to pray, take my spiritual growth seriously, and attend therapy. This unlocked things I had never truly experienced in life: peace, mental clarity, wisdom, and self-love.
As I continued to heal, The Most High began to guide my steps and open my eyes to exactly how I am to fulfill my goal of helping others. There are other women who are seeking healing, who are looking to grow and to accomplish goals in their life. With my personal, academic, and professional experience, I am in a position to utilize the skillset I have and experiences I have been through to help these women do just that; shift their perspective and step into their purpose.
Some believe you have to make a choice to either be a Woman of God or a successful woman. My goal is to shift that narrative and allow women to see that the true key to success is to place The Most High first and He will order your steps and allow you to bear fruit (be successful) in all your other endeavors. As you grow in your spiritual connection with Him, you will acquire the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding you need to make effective decisions and carry out His will, the purpose in which you were created.
As the details of my purpose were being revealed to me, I was inspired and led to publish my first book, Growing and Glowing: An Empowerment and Gratitude Journal to Daughters of The King. Seeing the responses from women who have purchased the journal and from the weekly videos I began to make around concepts in the journal, it validated that I am on the right track and fulfilling what I have been called to do to help others.
The Growing and Glowing Journal is just the beginning. I am building a women empowerment empire! If I am able to help at least one woman draw closer to God and step into her purpose, my work has been fulfilled! (Although I really hope to help millions, Lord willing)
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have definitely had and continue to experience bumps along the road, but all good stories have a bit of conflict, right?
• Experiencing broken family relationships.
• Seeing family members struggle with the typical hardships in underserved Los Angeles communities.
• Having to personally overcome financial issues, healing emotionally and mentally, and truly learning how to love myself.
All these struggles and experiences have made me the woman I am today and allow me to keep striving for growth!
The Lord has seriously broken me down throughout my 20s and has been rebuilding me day by day, and for this I cannot be more thankful! In the midst of these challenges, my purpose has been revealed to me and now I have an opportunity to help other women shift their perspective, grow, and step into their purpose.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By day, I am a corporate executive, running the Project Management & Technology Department for a plasma-derived therapy company. I am also an adjunct professor, teaching project management to graduate students. I’ve been in corporate roles for eight years and have received a significant amount of knowledge, but I have also seen how women in leadership roles are under-represented and this pushed me further to focus on women empowerment. Now, I am working to utilize all the leadership, management, and spiritual growth I have acquired to focus solely on women empowerment and development. June 2020, I dove in by launching She’sBlessd Accessories and publishing the Growing and Glowing Journal
Every day since the launch, I have been working to expand what will soon be a women empowerment empire. My purpose is to guide women to understanding that you do not have to choose between prioritizing God or accomplishing your goals. You can obtain both by placing God first. He will allow you to have success in all other areas of your life because you are serving Him.
Publishing the Growing and Glowing Journal and making weekly encouragement videos on my business Instagram page is only the beginning. I will be expanding upon my businesses to further assist women shifting their perspectives and stepping into their purpose.
What’s next?
There are so many changes coming, and I cannot wait for them to launch! I will be expanding on my businesses to include a book on my life and the obstacles I have overcome, an additional journal to aid women in their growth, a fashion forward modest clothing line, and coaching services!
My website is currently undergoing rebranding, but very soon I will be coming back full force!
