We recently had the chance to connect with Wilnique & Wilnice Denley and have shared our conversation below.
Wilnique & Wilnice, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Oh my gosh, wow! I have so many hobbies; it’s crazy! I find joy in drawing people and celebrities hyperrealistically using charcoal pencils. I also enjoy baton twirling and roller skating to music. I love to sungaze during the day and stargaze at night. I have been playing the piano and the xylophone since I was six years old, learning to play by ear, and I’m really good at both.
I have fond memories of playing double Dutch and absolutely love pixel whipping—it’s an LED colorful light-changing whip that I use to create patterns around me. I have so much fun dancing with it! Hiking with my sisters is another favorite activity of mine, and I enjoy ice skating as well. Exploring different hiking trails and beaches brings me great joy.
Additionally, I enjoy reading spiritual books. I went through a spiritual awakening in late 2018 and continue my journey toward ascension.
Makeup is another passion of mine, and I’ve been enjoying trips to the beach and park with Nikki, my dad, and my beloved dog, Billie. She is a true sweetheart—very loving, loyal, fierce, and super protective. I really love my girl!
Every year, my sisters and I have a tradition of going to Knott’s Scary Farm. Last year, we visited Universal Studios for the first time, but I already miss Knott’s! I love the scary atmosphere, the roller coasters, and the sweet treats at every corner, like candy apples, funnel cakes, souvenir gift shops, ice cream parlors, and churros. My favorite part, besides the thrilling rides, is definitely the scary monsters! -nene
I’m the other twin! Beyond work, I embrace my identity as a multi-passionate and enthusiastic individual who finds joy in even the most mundane moments. I cherish photo shoot sessions, journaling, and exploring the wisdom of astrology. I find fulfillment in crocheting unique creations, learning new songs in sign language, and nurturing my rose garden. Meditation enriches my life, and I make it a point to literally stop and smell the flowers while crafting one-of-a-kind jewelry. I also really love turning my favorite songs in the world into reverb slowed versions because it literally makes me feel alive and on top of the world. Creating YouTube videos together brings us endless joy! Join us on our adventure at the Denley Twins YouTube channel for fun, laughter, and a glimpse into our unique moments!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! We’re identical twin sisters who were born on a magical Christmas Eve in Sunny California way back in 1999. Since we were little, we’ve always felt a spark of creativity that drives us to create amazing wonderlands filled with all kinds of enchanting creatures. I can still remember those sneaky moments when we’d grab printer paper from our dad’s workstation, our hearts racing with excitement as we let our imaginations run wild. Those blank sheets felt like sacred canvases, where we could express our curious spirits and have loads of fun!
Even at the age of six, we knew we were meant for something special in the creative arts. Being twins is such a huge part of who we are, and we celebrate that connection in everything we do. Our art is all about spreading joy and light, and we hope it brings a smile to everyone who sees it!
We use our artwork to share a vibrant, uplifting energy full of mesmer, awe, love, and light. Think whimsical, free-spirited beings that remind us to reconnect with our inner child and embrace the happiness around us! We want to instill feelings of awe-struck mesmer, amusment, visual excitment, and heartfelt joy with every piece we create.
Our approach to art is to go big or go home in terms of uniqueness, detail, size, and avant-garde energy, It’s almost like stepping into a whimsical wonderland, akin to “Alice in Wonderland.” Our creations are filled with colorful, intricately detailed creatures that burst with a playful sense of joy in their facial expressions and posture. They remind us all of the magic and excitement we felt as kids!
We’re dedicated to sharing beautifully radiant beings of light with the world, and each art piece tells a story. Many of them carry healing vibes and messages of love, hope, and happiness. Our goal is to touch people’s hearts and spark that inner child within, celebrating the lighthearted and loving nature we all have deep down—free of worries and ego.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
This question is deeply personal and transformative, something we truly cherish. Before the world imposed its expectations on us, we were bright, curious, creative, energetic, affectionate, and sweet souls who wanted to love everyone and everything. We aspired to achieve great things and succeed in whatever we set our minds to.
Growing up, we were raised by parents who instilled in us self-trust, high self-esteem, integrity, hard work, patience, diligence, perseverance, and a powerful belief in ourselves. They taught us to pursue our dreams relentlessly and never give up.
As children, we shared a strong telepathic bond, one that feels permanent and unbreakable. Before the world told us who we had to be; we were pure-hearted, curious innocent creatives filled with enthusiastic happiness and wonder of knowing life, eager to explore the world, embrace life to the fullest, and grow while having fun. And now in this day and forever afterwards, we are who we’ve always been to the core of our spirit. Our true selves that embrace our childlike hearts and our creative, energetic spark that lives on.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most in my life is the fear of public perception and judgment, particularly in the context of cancel culture. People on the internet can be relentless, especially when they don’t understand the struggles and emotional turmoil that you’ve faced while trying to overcome your fears and become a better version of yourself. I worried about what my friends and family would think of me being in the public eye as an artist, as it is a very unconventional career path that contradicts the higher education routes that my family has traditionally pursued.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
We believe in the Law of Cause and Effect, often referred to as Karma, which suggests that what you do to others will eventually come back to you, whether that is positive or negative. While we cannot technically prove that Karma exists, the actions you take towards yourself and others reveal a lot about your character. This is why we both embrace the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.
Although we may not know the exact plan or timing of the consequences of a person’s actions, we understand that everything may appear invisible to our naked eyes. We are often unaware of the underlying energetic and quantum processes at work that lead to the physical, mental, spiritual, or energetic results associated with those actions. However, we believe that Karma never escapes a soul that has caused harm in the world. The universe must rebalance and reharmonize that energy to restore everything to its natural divine order.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Both of us are embracing vulnerability on this journey, even though it feels like uncharted waters and we have taken a leap of faith. We are determined to give our best, even if no one praises us for it, because this is not about seeking validation, praise or approval from others. What truly matters is that we follow the call of our hearts and souls, remaining diligent, thorough, hardworking, and passionate in the process. It’s about being authentic and giving our absolute best.
We are returning home to ourselves, feeling a quiet confidence in knowing that we did the best we could under the circumstances. We are letting God know that we tried our hardest, no matter what. For us, giving our all in this world means success, irrespective of the results we achieve. It’s about having the courage to take risks and granting ourselves the permission to promise our lives and our younger selves that we will strive to be the highest, greatest versions of ourselves, regardless of who is watching.
At the end of the night and the end of our lives, we believe in being aligned with our soul’s path—the very thing that sparks joy and life in our hearts. We must never allow others to dim our light. While pursuing our purpose, there will always be people who don’t believe in us or fail to understand our vision. However, we cannot let that stop us from giving our all. Creating your greatest masterpiece and continuously striving higher for your next achievements should be the motivation to passionately express your tenacity, inner confidence, and strong sense of self—qualities that are highly admirable in any individual.
