Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Lian ” Li Li ” Castillo of Hollywood

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lian ” Li Li ” Castillo . Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Lian ” Li Li “, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
As a creative, I need to be constantly stimulated so these days I’m in my Home Studio! Usually in a digital writing session or just working on the EP with my producer who lives in Denver, so were always on Zoom. Lots of Home Studio time and spending time with other Artists is my daily grind. I constantly go to shows and try to support as many as Artists as I can. You can always find me hiking the Hills of Hollywood and Malibu with my dog, Fiona.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Li Li ! I’m a Singer in LA who makes Dark Pop dance music! I blend genres thru a high glamour lens with pops of Camp. My Latest single, “Worship” dropped on October 3rd and it’s my most personal single thus far. I’m a new artist so my goal is to create a body of work that really showcases something deeply personal, queer, and beautiful. Let’s dance and kiss our faces off on the dance floor! I recently had my debut show this summer in Las Vegas. It was intimate bar performance in a small nightclub venue. It was so fun and i cant wait to have a show in LA.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Anytime I was performing! Whether it was in a school play, a community theater production or in a Bar, that’s the feeling we chase the most as performers, as creatives and I felt like that at a very young age. It’s an intrinsic shift that happens and when it does, you always want it. As a theater kid, I felt super early on.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Let’s keep it real, Artist Life has it’s been ups and downs, and I feel like I give up all the time. It’s a bad day, a glitch, but its very temporary. I’m a baddie, I’m a star and I’m in it for life. Let’s go.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I would say It’s me. But it’s a side of me that I’m choosing to share right now. I’m always myself but i think we all have different eras. You’ve seen me in different spaces, on TV shows, on podcasts, social media and now i just want to present myself in a more musical way. This is me right now and its always real. The music is so real! Performing music is the most public and real thing I have ever done.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I think I’d regret not going all the way with my music, not fully seeing how far i could take it. I’m a new Artist and I only have a couple singles out, but I know what it means to me so it would haunt me if I didn’t just immerse myself in it like I have. I have made so many of my dreams come true but it honestly feels like I’m just getting started, with Music, with Acting, with the Industry. I’m just getting started!
