karen, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day is waking up to e-mails and texts to schedule or change appointment times. Then I head over to the studio to set up for my day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Karen Demirjian and I am owner and founder of KaliTans. We are a full service Spray Tan Company. I spray tan, educate and sell sunless products.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
It’s when I realized no one is coming to save you, I have to save myself.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Sure, as a business owner there’s been many days I just want to quit.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Loyalty, honesty, and genuine connection.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will tell the story of someone who lived with heart, grit, and purpose. Someone who loved fiercely, stood up for what was right, and didn’t let life’s hardships turn her bitter. Someone who gave more than she took, lifted others when she didn’t have much herself, and still found a way to smile through the storms. I hope they say I was loyal, real, and brave enough to reinvent myself when life demanded it. Most of all, I hope they remember that I left people better than I found them and that way I loved became my legacy.
