We recently had the chance to connect with EDWINA THOMAS and have shared our conversation below.
EDWINA, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, my greatest joy right now is my family. From my mom to my children and my grandkids, they keep me grounded, inspired, and laughing. Time with them reminds me why I do what I do and fills my cup in ways nothing else can.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Edwina Thomas, founder of Yummy Snacks Treats and Goodies a heart-led food brand rooted in family, culture, and community. What started as cooking for loved ones has grown into a business that blends soulful flavors with intentional care. My brand is inspired by Sunday dinners, my grandmother’s love of baking, and the joy food brings when it’s made with purpose. My mother instilled in me the importance of food and family, and the deep connection between the two—a lesson that continues to guide everything I create.
Yummy Snacks Treats and Goodies is more than desserts and comfort food; it’s about creating moments, celebrating togetherness, and giving back. I’m deeply committed to serving my community and often partner with nonprofits and local events to ensure food reaches those who need it most.
As I continue to grow the business, I’m expanding my catering services and developing projects that merge food, storytelling, and wellness. At the core of everything I do is the belief that food can heal, connect, and bring people home—one bite at a time.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My children Skyler, Tyeler, Anthony II, Princess and Christian saw me clearly before I could see myself. They look at me like I’m the best thing that ever happened to the world—like I’m magic. Through their eyes, I learned to see my strength, believe in my dreams, and step fully into the woman I’m becoming. Their love and encouragement remind me daily of my power.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that no one is coming to save me—and that’s not a burden, it’s power. It showed me that it’s my responsibility to choose myself, build my resilience, and turn my dreams into reality through action, discipline, and faith.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads come and go, but foundations last. Flavors never lie. My recipes, paired with my bubbly personality, have opened doors and taken me places a trend never could. When something is rooted in authenticity and consistency, it doesn’t need to chase attention—it earns loyalty.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop taking my loved ones’ time and attention for granted. We work so hard to build a beautiful life for our families that we sometimes forget to slow down and truly be present with the people we love most. Time is the one thing we can’t get back.
