We recently had the chance to connect with Dorene Slavitz and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Dorene, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I volunteer with my church working with unhoused families. We provide food and clothing every week. It’ s a very fulfilling opportunity for me and it makes me very happy to be a part of solving part of the homeless crisis in Los Angeles.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dorene Slavitz I am a seasoned Realtor with 17 years of experience in the Real Estate industry. Credentialed in Interior Design, I assist property owners with expert home staging to maximize value and appeal. I work in both Residential and Commercial real estate throughout West Los Angeles.
In my off time, I am actively involved with my local church, helping serve the homeless by providing food and clothing through our weekly food bank.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My father’s strong work ethic shaped my own by showing me the value of dedication, responsibility, and perseverance. Through his example, I learned that hard work and integrity go hand in hand, and those lessons continue to guide me every day.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re doing a great job. Don’t get discouraged.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
She’s a true friend. You can trust her.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
It matters when we do our best, because it reflects who we are, not because of recognition. Doing my best is a personal standard, rooted in integrity and self-respect, rather than something dependent on approval from others. Although it is nice to be appreciated once in a while.
