Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Ankita Bhardwaj of Los Angeles

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ankita Bhardwaj. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ankita, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
If I had to choose, it would be integrity. Intelligence and energy matter but without integrity they can be misused and misdirected. To me, integrity builds trust. It creates meaningful relationships and drives honesty and accountability.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ankita, and I am the Founder and Creative Director of Alto Modas, a Los Angeles based clothing brand specializing in women’s, children’s, and sleepwear fashion. What makes Alto Modas unique is our focus on timeless design, ethical production, and attention to detail. We work closely with artisans and manufactures all over the globe to create pieces that are elegant, sustainable and made to last.

Our story is rooted in blending heritage craftmanship with modern silhouettes, giving our collections a balance of sophistication, elegance and comfort.

Right now, we are working on our Fall-Holiday’2026 collections that celebrate soft prints, delicate embroideries, and versatile pieces designed for everyday wear as well as special moments.

At Alto Modas, our goal is to make fashion that feels personal, thoughtful and enduring.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my experience, what often breaks bonds is loss of trust and taking one another for granted. Whether through dishonesty, lack of respect, or neglect.
Sometimes, miscommunication and unspoken expectations slowly erode bonds between people.

What restores trust, in my opinion is empathy, integrity and accountability. I believe listening and communicating is very important to mend anything. Jumping to conclusions and blaming each other does no good to anyone.
When someone shows up with honesty, takes responsibility and truly listens, it creates space for healing.

At the heart of it, bonds are restored by rebuilding trust and choosing connection over ego.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be kind, Be honest and Be human. Everything else will fall into place.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that humans are supposed to be always kind, helpful and guided by humanity. Over time, I learned that not everyone operates that way. Some can be selfish or even unreasonable. It was an important realization that made me discerning.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
At the end of it all, my integrity would remain. Its the essence of my character and the legacy I hope to leave behind.
