Leon Hason of Bel Air on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Leon Hason and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Leon, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I am usually up by 6 am (I know). I sip on a black coffee and scan new and sold SoCal real estate listings to update myself on the market.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a real estate agent for and cofounder of Blue Flamingo Realty – a boutique real estate brokerage that prides itself in service and SoCal knowledge. I am a CPA and have over a decade of experience in real estate acquisitions, valuations, design, construction, and management.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My Father. He taught my brother, Niso and I everything we know about real estate and more importantly, taught us that the definition of success has nothing to do with money. We are forever grateful for the impact he makes on our lives and hope we can be as amazing fathers as he is.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Believe it or not, I tried and tried and tried to be a Dentist!!!!

My Senior year in University, during a dental school interview, the interviewer told me I didn’t have what it takes to be a Dentist and my application needed more.

I decided there and then, Dentistry wasn’t for me. I walked out of the interview and called my Dad to tell him I’m done with Dentistry. He suggested I consider accounting because he knew I had already taken an accounting course and really enjoyed it and explained how accounting applies to every business.

I then marched over to the USC Leventhal School of Accounting and went to my old accounting Professor and told him I was done with Dentistry and would like to be a CPA. The Professor took me to the Dean who enrolled me that afternoon.

It’s amazing how your life can change in an hour.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes
