Hi Lenka, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
What makes me proud a lot is when people approach me on the street, in restaurants or anywhere else to compliment my outfits that I wear and they always get very surprise when I tell them that I wear my designs and I made it myself . It is a very sweet moment and it makes me very happy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lenka Padysakova, I am a Costume and Fashion Designer.
My fashion brand embraces the fusion of Hollywood glamour and fashion haute couture.
My designs often feature luxurious and limited-edition Italian silks with iconic Hollywood star prints, such as Bridget Bardot, Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe, capturing the glamour and femininity of classic Hollywood.
I am creating custom-made pieces that feel exclusive, luxurious and unique.
My work in film and television costume design has earned a respected reputation for advancing storytelling through clothing that authentically defines characters. I am multilingual and globally experienced, adding cultural depth and versatility to my brand.
In essence, what makes my brand special is the synthesis of classic elegance, detailed craftsmanship, Hollywood influence, and true originality, underpinned by a strong personal commitment to creativity and collaboration in both costume and fashion design
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I didn’t realised it at that time but moments like getting approved for Costume Designers Guild in Los Angeles, Television Academy, O1 visa, then Green Card and American citizenship. Those are highlights of acceptance of my credibility, talent and hard work.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I would apply this not only to me as a child but as a teenager and adulthood equally- getting lost in books, storytelling and imagination.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Professionalism, loyalty, honesty and reliability.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
When creating.
