Jake Cameron of Vancouver, B.C on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Jake Cameron and have shared our conversation below.

Jake, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve recently got more serious about working out more and eating clean which is definitely something that brings me joy. I like it because going to the gym and eating healthy is totally up to you and it’s one thing you can control about your life. Pursuing acting has been great but most of the time it’s out of your reach. At the end of the day it’s really not up to you who gets the role. That’s why I’m obsessed with working out. It’s your choice to ignore that alarm and hit snooze or get up and work hard.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im originally from Eastern Europe and have been living in Vancouver for the past 20 plus years. Currently, I’m working on a script that I hope to one day make. It’s a passion project that I’ve spent a lot of time and effort on. Other than that I’ve been doing my best to book a few verticals which is always exciting! The most recent one was a drama called Ice and Flame where I had the privilege of working with some very talented actors and had a blast doing!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad definitely! He’s an extremely hard worker. He was born and raised in Czechoslovakia during communist times so he naturally grew up with that discipline. He raised me to do the same. Always work hard and give it your all.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Oh wow… Yeah lot’s of things… Soccer for one. I loved playing the sport when I was younger. It was all I did growing up. I remember one summer I would go to my high school soccer field and meet up with a bunch of my friends in the morning and we’d be there all day playing until around midnight. One of my friends had the code to the lights so we’d turn them on when it got darker and we’d keep playing. It was an amazing time that I would definitely love to relive.

Living in Los Angels a few years back was another time in my life I really miss. I spent many days with this very amazing family I happened to meet. We would go watch movies and do all kinds of things together. I never wanted it to end. That time, even though it only lasted for a short period, was when I was the happiest. That one probably hits the hardest because I not only miss the time I got to spend with them but I also really miss them.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family is a big one that really matters to me. Being close and having the privilege to be able to talk to my parents when something is not right is something that I am very lucky to have and I certainly don’t take that for granted.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would definitely love to have the opportunity to someday break out as an actor so I could prove and inspire other generations to keep pursing their goals and dreams no matter how far away they might seem. I would like to become an inspiration to someone like Humphrey Bogart became an inspiration to me. I love his story and how he struggled at the beginning but through his persistence and hard work became a legend who continues to inspire actors to this day. Someday I hope I can do that as well.
