Jacob , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I really love to golf. I don’t take as much time as I should to go play, but when I do its a great mental reset.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jacob Walters, and I’m the president and founder of JAW Bats—a premier wood baseball and softball bat manufacturer now expanding into a full line of baseball and softball products.
What sets JAW Bats apart is our unmatched ability to customize bats beyond what anyone else in the industry offers. Our process isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about performance, feel, and precision.
My journey in this industry is unique. I started JAW Bats when I was just 15 years old, handcrafting every bat myself for over a decade. That hands-on experience taught me exactly how different shaping techniques and finishing touches impact the way a bat feels and performs. Today, while we’ve expanded into CNC manufacturing, that same level of care and attention to detail still defines everything we do.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad taught me the most about work. He is a very hard working person, who never misses work, or anything in our lives. Him and my mom are both the most hard working selfless people I know.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering to me is always a better educator than success. When you win you win, but when you lose you learn.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
The truths that are foundational to me is to always be kind, and to work hard and do the best you can in every situation.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, of course everyone loves to be praised, but it’s not why I give everything my all. Integrity and hard work is built into my DNA. I don’t know any other way to go about life.
