Inspiring Conversations with T. Nikki Paige of Ladybutch by Chad Kenzie

Today we’d like to introduce you to T. Nikki Paige. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Chad Kenzie Studios is a Los Angeles-based creative tech studio that produces immersive multimedia art and entertainment experiences using web3 technology. It was founded by multimedia artist/producer T. Nikki Paige and author Haddy Sowe (pseudonym Haddijatou) during the 2020 pandemic; created as a full-service studio where they could independently produce and distribute all of their original works.

Ladybutch is a sustainable luxury art, interior, and lifestyle brand created by resident multidisciplinary artists at Chad Kenzie Studios. We created the Ladybutch collection as a way to bring our immersive art experiences into your home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a business founded by openly queer black women, we’ve hit a few bumps in the road, but they weren’t blocks from success. They were actually moments that required us to pivot, redirect, and realign. We’re committed to showing up authentically in everything we produce because visibility is essential right now. Those struggles opened up opportunities for growth in up-and-coming industries, like the metaverse and web 3.0.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I took school projects very seriously when I was growing up. Any opportunity I was given to use my imagination, play dress up, and bring a creative vision to life – I took it! One of my favorite memories was building a life-size, 1930’s inspired fruit stand for a book report project. I made it from household items and scrap supplies from Home Depot. It was gigantic, I had to have my Mom help me bring it to the school. In retrospect, it might have been a little over the top for a book report but it definitely was the beginning of my love of creating multimedia installation art from sustainable materials. As for Haddy – she wrote a whole book about her favorite childhood memories. Check out Homegrown by Haddijatou available at Barnes and Noble through Chad Kenzie Print.
