Inspiring Conversations with Shane Skaar of Streignth (Streignth Sportswear)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Skaar.

Hi Shane, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up with extremely low self-esteem because of a chest condition I had. On July 13th, 2015, I took a leap of faith and had a procedure to correct it. The doctors said pain would be worse than open-heart surgery and success was not guaranteed which scared me. But at the end of the day, the only thing that scared me more than the procedure was trying at all. Thankfully, it went perfect and was the best day of my life. Years of insecurity were finally over – all because I took a risk and went for what I wanted, and that day marked the start of a new life for me. I fully recovered one year later and began my fitness journey. In 2019 at age 18, I created “Streignth Sportswear” – combining my two passions fitness and business. I’m now 21 years old and a senior at UW-La Crosse. Our journey and impact we’ve been able to make so far have been incredibly rewarding. The Streignth Team and I want to show you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

I started Streignth in my college dorm room, and now I run everything out of my apartment in my living room. We’ve been able to sell products all over the U.S and even international- Australia, Canada, the UK, and Mexico to name a few countries. Lately, we’ve seen some huge growth- doubling our team of ambassadors from 100 to 250 in just the past month because of viral exposure we’ve seen from TikTok. We have so much support and people backing our movement, it truly means the world to me. We are just scratching the surface of our potential- Streignth has been an incredible journey so far, and the best part is we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anything in life, you will always have obstacles/adversities to overcome. COVID-19 has been hard on everyone, but through the heat of the pandemic, we found ways to adapt and overcome by implementing different challenges and keeping our inventory fresh with new, affordable, and stylish limited edition items. The biggest challenge we’ve been facing lately have been shipping delays and much higher prices than normal. We believe it’s been directly linked to COVID still, and it’s made our launches have to be more spread out. I would love for us to be able to have a launch every month on 2022 if shipping can improve- all we can do is be patient and make the most of it. Other than shipping, our biggest problem is simply developing omnipresence which we continue to improve. I truly believe Streignth’s products, mission statement/message, and community we have created the past 2.5 years is extremely special and rare. It’s only a matter of time until the world will know about who we are and can live out the Streignth mentality in their own lives- striving to become the best version of themselves on a daily basis.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Streignth is an American fitness/lifestyle clothing and accessories brand. We aspire to motivate others to overcome their adversities and reign in all aspects in life. I started Streignth in 2019 at age 18. I’m beyond thankful and proud of the movement we’ve been able to cultivate and impact we’ve made so far. We’ve had the opportunity to do launches centered around different causes including: mental health awareness, breast cancer awareness, and even collaborating with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals this month. Streignth is so much more than just our clothes – it’s the mentality to become the best version of yourself and empower others to do so as well.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
COVID-19 has taught me many lessons- patience being the most important. As much as I want us to grow as fast as possible, good things can take time, and I truly believe everything in life happens for a reason. All of our manufacturing and shipping delays we’ve experienced have taught us to adapt and grow in ways I never initially thought were possible.
