Inspiring Conversations with Rebekah Bashorun of Organize For Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Bashorun.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My upbringing greatly influenced my infinity to home. I was always to clean up and clutter greatly impacted me. Through doing my own organizing, cleaning, and decorating, I started to see my space as an extension of my overall well-being which was also the start of my desire to become a professional organizer.

When I used my new organization skills during a year of homelessness to create a sense of home- I knew I had something to offer others. No matter my environment, I kept my space neat and comfortable.

Pulling from the inspiration of my creative entrepreneur parents and need for a clean space, I birthed Organize For Love. I use inviting content and home organizing services to solve the problems of my community around having too much stuff.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been easy. Although the concepts I present resonate with 1,000’s, I’m still overcoming the challenges. Educating my community on the importance of home organization and the value of home organizing is a constant pull. In addition to meeting the needs of my clients while building a scalable company has been the hardest thing to manage at once.

We’ve been impressed with Organize For Love, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
On the outside Organize For Love is a professional home organization company, we help people identify what’s no longer serving them and their home. We specialize in identifying the self-imposed barriers to decluttering because sometimes (most of the time) its not about the physical item. It’s about the memory attached to it, the person connected it, a lifestyle, role, or your former self. What sets us apart is we focus on African Americans and how holding on, letting go, or a lack of organization impacts us culturally. We focus on the questions, perspectives, and approach to organizing and decluttering that may be specific to the African Americans. Since this is my personal lens, this is how Organize For Love will naturally be presented. I’m so proud that my brand truly attracts those who “get us”. I’m proud of the early work I did to clarify what my brand is and isn’t. I’d want readers to know that we’re strong about the vision and we’ve changed the how. We know that we want to help in this way but you may see how we do that change. It’s a natural evolution of any business, however in the moment it can be challenging to go with the flow when you’re pivoting and in transition. I’m particularly grateful to my community for stickin’ beside us through the changes.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me changes but right now success is being happy with myself, what I do and how I do things.
