Inspiring Conversations with Ray Nomair of Onguard Security Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Nomair.

Hi Ray, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I founded Onguard Security with the goal of providing reliable and professional security services while creating opportunities for others in the industry. While attending California State University, Northridge (CSUN), I developed a strong interest in business and entrepreneurship, which ultimately led me to start Onguard Security.

What began as a small operation has grown into a company that provides security services across California, supporting hundreds of security officers and serving a wide range of clients including apartment communities, commercial properties, construction sites, and logistics facilities.

The growth of Onguard Security has been driven by a commitment to professionalism, accountability, and building strong relationships with our clients. Over the years, we have continued to invest in better training, technology, and operational systems to ensure we provide dependable security services.

This journey has been incredibly meaningful to me. Building Onguard Security has never just been about growing a business—it has been about creating opportunities, supporting families through employment, and giving back to the communities we serve. Seeing the company grow and knowing that it makes a positive impact on people’s lives is what motivates me to keep pushing forward.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. In the early days, one of the biggest challenges was building trust and credibility in a competitive industry. As a young company, we had to work hard to prove we could deliver the same level of professionalism and reliability as larger firms.

Like many entrepreneurs, there were long hours and challenges along the way, but those experiences helped shape the company and taught me the importance of resilience, strong leadership, and building the right team.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What really sets us apart is our hands-on approach. We don’t just place guards—we actively manage every account. I personally stay involved along with our operations team to ensure our clients are getting consistent, reliable service. We focus heavily on accountability, real-time communication, and making sure our officers show up professional, on time, and ready to represent both our company and the client’s brand.

We’re known for building strong relationships with our clients and being responsive when it matters most. Whether it’s handling incidents, adjusting coverage, or stepping in quickly when something comes up, our team is available 24/7 and always ready to support. We also utilize guard reporting software, GPS tracking, and real-time reporting systems to ensure full transparency and consistent service across all locations.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the reputation we’ve built. A lot of our growth has come from referrals and long-term partnerships, which speaks to the trust our clients have in us. We’ve been able to scale while still keeping that personal touch, which is something many larger companies lose over time.

At the end of the day, we’re not just providing security—we’re providing peace of mind. That’s what we want our clients and your readers to take away from Onguard Security.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I believe the security industry will become increasingly technology-driven. We’re already seeing growth in AI-powered surveillance, smart cameras, and real-time monitoring systems that help detect and respond to threats faster.

At the same time, trained security officers will continue to play a critical role. The future will likely be a hybrid model where technology supports security professionals, allowing companies to provide more proactive and efficient protection for businesses and communities.
