Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Rosser.
Hi Lindsay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Throughout my life, I have been exposed to the many stigmas attached to mental health diagnosis and treatment. I was pained by how many people were blocked by fear from pursuing healing through psychotherapy. With new science available about trauma and the brain, I was eager to learn how to help others and break the shame around receiving mental health treatment.
Today, I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the owner and Executive Director of the group therapy practice WellBeings Therapy. We specialize in evidence-based, trauma-focused and holistic wellness practices. We consider ourselves a boutique private practice because we are a small group that provides specialty trauma-informed services. We only bring on high-quality providers who are passionate about their life’s work as a therapist.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Owning a business comes with its fair share of ups and downs. COVID has truly changed the therapy industry and required our business to shape-shift in many ways. We are constantly looking at what we can do to serve more people that can fall victim to the gaps in our current healthcare system (i.e., those who cannot afford therapy services or have good insurance coverage). During COVID-19, this need became particularly apparent, and we brought on rising clinicians to offer truly low-fee services. Continuing to expand this service is an ongoing challenge for us! We want everyone to have an experience of therapy that leaves them with profound insights and meaningful change in their lives. We train our therapists to be able to provide just that.
As you know, we’re big fans of WellBeings Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We provide individual, family, couples, child and adolescent therapy. We are integrative therapists, which means we pull from several theoretical models to provide evidence-based treatment that will best suit our client’s needs. We focus on helping our clients with a multitude of issues and our guiding principles include but are not limited to creating safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment in the therapeutic relationship.
Our therapy focuses on understanding the complex and nuanced effects of trauma on anyone seeking therapy. During therapy sessions at WellBeings, your therapist will help you identify any beliefs, emotions and body sensations that you have that are directly related to the traumatic events and/or adverse life events you have experienced. Your therapist will then help you uproot what’s keeping you from moving forward in your healing journey.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Perseverance and creativity are two characteristics I feel are necessary for a successful business. We keep going when the going gets tough and look for new and exciting ways to educate and provide services to our community.
