Inspiring Conversations with La Shawn Sharp of RUT.

Today we’d like to introduce you to La Shawn Sharp.

Hi La Shawn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a personal trainer and the owner of RUT. RUT is a health and wellness/ Clothing Brand based in Baltimore, MD. Our aim is to make sure women feel beautiful even in their toughest moments. Our wellness products are made with all certified organic oils and carefully fused together to promote hair growth and skin rejuvenation. My company prides itself on creating and selling high-quality products and services that promote wellness for mind, body and soul. I started creating products from home and selling to customers locally at pop-up shops and also to fitness clients. I later branched off by visiting neighboring cities and hosting pop-up shops with a few of my friends (who are also entrepreneurs )with a company we formed called “The Pop Up Tour”. By doing this, I was able to connect more with customers and receive brand reconnection.

Currently, RUT’s products are sold nationally through our website. We are still growing. RUT‘s #1 selling product “Hair & Skin cocktail” is manufactured and sold throughout the United States. I also have a podcast called “Flex with La Shawn” which is available on iTunes and Spotify. This podcast focuses on Fitness, Health, Nutrition and lifestyle. The mission of the podcast supports FLEX with La Shawn fitness with offers group fitness programs centered around preventative health care and weight loss solutions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is tough. You have to be willing to take risks and continue to believe in yourself at all times. When I just started out I did not have much support. I remember hosting pop-up shops and packing my car up with products and driving for miles after staying up all night packaging oils. Having a lack of support has taught me so many lessons and helped build my confidence in my abilities. I now know that through God and hard work, I am able to overcome any obstacle I face.

RUT /rööth/ was created by Trainer La Shawn Sharp in honor of her grandmother Ruth Felder. Ruth was hard working, faith-driven, humble, caring yet strong & unstoppable. Her spirit embodies the culture here at RUT. Like Ruth many woman strive daily to create balance with busy schedules and important deadlines not to mention staying healthy and fashionable. We provide lounge & activewear for strong women with active lifestyles one of our biggest accomplishments is our mission to reduce our carbon footprint. RUT has launched our “Global Impact” campaign. RUT’s commitment to making a global impact could not be possible without the help of our customers. RUT has partnered with Ecologi for their sustainable development efforts. With each purchase made RUT is able to plant a tree in nations like Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, and Kenya.
