Inspiring Conversations with Kelli Michael

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Michael.

Hi Kelli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, growing up I had dreams of being an entrepreneur, I hated the thought of sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day and with a boss micromanaging me. Watching my father build his plumbing business from scratch and having two older brothers who have always been role models for me, one is a financial advisor and the other an attorney with his own firm. I knew I had big shoes to fill if I wanted to be successful like them. I started my first business which was a flop in 2012 ‘Marble It’ A Nail Art Design Kit which was a kit with everything someone would need to water marble design their fingernails, it failed because of a faulty design which lead the nail polish to evaporate from the dropper bottles. In 2013 I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and began working for a web development company as a marketing coordinator and picked up some design tips which lead me to start my own web design company in 2016 called KRM Web Designs, helping small businesses have an online presence. I got tired of spending 12 hours a day designing websites so I started selling cars at Russell Westbrook and from there, I decided if I can sell cars, I can sell homes. So I began to pursue my real estate studies and got my salesperson license and hung it with Keller Williams in September 2020 and in my first year, I sold over 3 million dollars. I continue to pursue my real estate career at Kelli Michael Luxury Estates where I am able to help people find a home to grow into or out of ones they outgrew. All in all, I’m just starting my journey as a Realtor but have years of experience with customer service, negotiations, sales, and creative projects.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think life is ever supposed to be a smooth ride. Yes, there are easier days but regardless of any career, there are ups and downs. If you’re not failing, you aren’t trying. I think the most challenging part of being an entrepreneur is staying motivated, not comparing yourself to others, and being patient with yourself and your journey. Continue to work towards your goals every day, and enjoy the ride. With the right mindset, you can accomplish anything in life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Choosing me as your realtor, you get more than just a real estate agent, you get a confidant, a trustworthy, reliable and honest friend who has your best interest in mind. Born and raised in Los Angeles, I know this city well and can guide my clients in the right direction. Having a marketing and web design background, I’m able to design a website for their home showcasing just how beautiful it is, market it, and make sure it’s presented well on all social media platforms as well as flyers. I schedule and personally sit in on my open houses. I’m present for inspections, negotiating repairs, etc. I believe what makes me stand out from other realtors is I truly want the best for my clients. I want to walk them into the next chapter of their lives whether they are a growing family or turned into empty nesters. I truly believe that new doors open new opportunities and being able to experience my client’s excitement of moving into their new home and starting fresh is my favorite part. Buying a home is a large investment and I walk my clients through the entire process, from start to finish. I have a fantastic team of lenders, photographers, virtual stagers, handymen, general inspectors, appraisers, title and escrow officers. Working with me, you’re working with a team of professional, hard-working individuals who make home buying and selling so easy that you’ll actually enjoy it. I take pride in being organized and efficient, attentive, and asking qualifying questions which is how I find the perfect home for my clients. So if you’re interested in purchasing a new home or looking to make the move and sell your current property, I would love the opportunity to be your realtor.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
On May 25, 2018, I got sober from alcohol and found my way into a 12 step program which has changed my life completely. I had no idea I was struggling with addiction until I found out what addiction really is and how it ran my life. I sponsor women, I take them through the steps and I help change their lives for the better like my sponsor had done for me. One addiction after the other, I started shedding what no longer served me and after 15 years of smoking cigarettes and promising myself that this is the last pack and that I’m quitting, on November 25th, 2019 I quit quitting and quit for good. I knew that others struggle with quitting cigarettes so I wrote and designed an ebook called ‘Cut The Chain Smoking’ and it’s free for whoever truly wants to quit smoking. So far, I’ve helped six people quit cold turkey. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to watch so many people change their lives for the better, it’s incredibly rewarding.
