Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryna Dang.

Kathryna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been drawn to fashion and the confidence it can bring. When you love your outfit, you feel good—simple as that. My very first job was at Forever 21, and that’s where I discovered how much I enjoyed retail. I loved meeting new people, connecting with customers, and seeing fresh trends come in every single day.
I went on to study Business Marketing at Cal Poly Pomona because I knew I wanted to dive deeper into the business side of the industry. After graduating, I stepped into the wholesale fashion world—and my mind was blown. Seeing how everything worked behind the scenes and discovering the many brands that make up the industry was eye-opening. I spent over 12 years as a wholesale sales rep, traveling, learning, and building genuine relationships with so many incredible boutique owners.
Those experiences are what inspired me to create Shop Kathryna Dang. I wanted a space where I could curate collections that help people feel their absolute best. No matter what someone is going through, a little retail therapy truly can lift spirits—and that’s the energy behind my store. And that’s how Shop Kathryna Dang came to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a perfectly smooth road, but it has definitely been a rewarding one. From the beginning, I had a clear vision of what I wanted Shop Kathryna Dang to look and feel like—welcoming, warm and never overwhelming. Finding the right contractor to bring that vision to life was so important, and Southern California Painter understood it perfectly.
Now, seven months in, we are continuing to grow and evolve. I am learning every single day—what brands my clientele gravitates toward, the sizing they love, and how to curate a mix that truly fits their lifestyle.
I would say marketing has been one of the biggest challenges. You constantly need fresh content, new footage, and creative ways to bring people through the door. My mind is always running, always learning, and always trying to figure out what’s next.
It’s all part of the process, and even with the challenges, I would not trade it for anything.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Shop Kathryna Dang is a small, family-run business powered by myself, my husband Yung, and our son Masen. Together, we pour our hearts into creating a space that feels personal, welcoming, and rooted in genuine connection.
Every brand in our store is intentionally curated with our customers in mind. I focus on bringing in high-quality pieces—styles that feel good, fit well, and last in your closet for years, not just a season. I take customer feedback seriously. Listening to what people love, what they need, and what they are looking for helps me continually refine our collections and make the shopping experience even better.
One of the things I am most proud of is the community we have built. So many customers have become friends—some even feel like family. Our doors are open to everyone and my hope is that every visit feels memorable, comfortable, and fun. I love styling people, offering honest feedback, and helping them feel their absolute best.
We have put so much heart and soul into Shop Kathryna Dang, and we are excited to keep growing and serving our community for years to come.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
First, my husband, Yung Dang. We have been together for over 18 years, and he has seen every version of me—my highs, my lows, and everything in between. He pushes me to be better every single day. Without his support, encouragement, and belief in me, Shop Kathryna Dang simply would not exist.
My Mom, Diana Dantic, will always be my number one supporter. She raised me to be the woman I am today, and I see so much of her strength in myself. She was truly a superwoman, and I pray every day that I am making her proud. I miss her deeply, and her love continues to guide me.
My family—the Kapunos and the Dantics—and all my friends, have shown me unwavering support. From showing up to my grand opening to cheering me on through every milestone. I am endlessly grateful for their love.
And I have to give a special thank you to Minnie Baral. She was instrumental in helping me secure the beautiful space I dreamed of. She shared her knowledge, guided me through the process, and was a true helping hand when I needed it most.
