Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Estrada, ESQ..
Hi Esther, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer. I vividly remember being just five or six years old when I first confided this dream to my grandfather. Despite not knowing any lawyers or understanding where the idea originated, my heart was set, and once I set my heart on something, there is no stopping me.
During my sophomore year of college, I worked as a hostess at a chain restaurant. Eager to earn better tips, especially on weekends, I casually mentioned to my manager my desire to be promoted to a server. Despite my hard work and dedication, I soon realized that a promotion was unlikely unless I remained at the restaurant for several more years, as most servers had been there for over five years. When I submitted my two-week notice, my manager approached me with an offer to promote me to server—if I joined him in Vegas for a weekend. This shocking proposition marked the beginning of my experience with sexual harassment in the workplace. Initially, I blamed myself for ever expressing my ambition to become a server and was incredibly hard on myself. I left that job immediately without informing anyone about what happened. It wasn’t until I became a law student, several years later, that I recognized I was a victim of sexual harassment. This encounter fueled my determination to help others facing similar situations at work.
In my junior year of college, I landed my first job at a law firm. It started as a free internship at a personal injury law firm, where I was tasked with clearing a backlog of minor compromises (minor comps). For those unfamiliar, minor comps involve court-required review of settlements for minors over $5,000. A judge oversees and has to approve the distribution of the settlement money. In this role, I had the privilege of helping the most innocent victims receive compensation after an injury. This experience ignited a profound passion for personal injury law within me. I continued to work in personal injury law through law school and after I passed the California bar exam. Fast forward a few years, and in December 2020, I proudly established my own personal injury firm.
As I continue to grow in my legal career, my mission is to merge my passion for personal injury law with my dedication to advocating for victims of employment law violations. I am expanding my online brand Esther the Lawyer to include employment law. I am committed to helping those who have suffered injustices find their voice and ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve. I aim to provide comprehensive support to my clients. Whether they are innocent victims of accidents or individuals facing harassment and discrimination in the workplace, I will stand by their side, fighting tirelessly for their rights and dignity. My ultimate goal is to empower victims, restore their confidence, and secure the justice they are entitled to.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Online I am known as Esther the Lawyer, but at home, I’m just mommy, As a working mom who owns a law firm, balancing my time between being a present mother and a fierce advocate for my clients is a constant challenge. My time is incredibly limited, so I have to be very precise about how I spend my workday to achieve maximum output. Prioritization is everything, but it’s not always easy.
Becoming a mom has profoundly influenced my approach to my legal practice. It has made me a stronger advocate for my clients, especially those who are also parents. I empathize deeply with mothers who had their children with them in the vehicle when they were in an accident. I understand the added stress and worry that comes with ensuring their children’s safety and well-being while dealing with the aftermath of an accident. This personal connection drives me to fight even harder for their rights and to secure the compensation they deserve.
Moreover, I relate to clients who struggle to make it to their appointments. As a mother, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle multiple responsibilities and commitments. Whether it’s attending a child’s school event, managing household tasks, or simply finding time for self-care, the demands on a parent’s time are immense. This understanding allows me to be more compassionate and accommodating when clients face difficulties in keeping appointments or managing their cases.
Running a law firm while being a present mom requires meticulous planning and time management. I have developed efficient workflows and streamlined our intake process to ensure that we provide the best possible experience for our clients without sacrificing quality. My goal is to make the legal process as smooth and stress-free as possible for those dealing with car accidents or workplace discrimination.
Ultimately, my dual roles as a mother and a law firm owner have strengthened my resolve to help others. I am committed to empowering my clients, helping them find their voice, and ensuring they receive the justice and compensation they deserve.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’m the proud daughter of immigrants both of my parents came to this country as children, and from an early age, they taught me the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance. Growing up in a family of small business owners, I was introduced to entrepreneurship and responsibility before I even understood what those words meant.
By the time I was seven, I was already helping out in our family’s party planning business blowing up balloons, fixing linens on tables, and folding dinner napkins with care. When my parents later bought a nightclub, I asked to help there too. They put me in the box office not just to lend a hand, but to make sure the ladies working the door didn’t pocket any cash. Looking back, I realize I’ve been working in some capacity since I was a child, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Those early experiences shaped who I am today. They gave me a front-row seat to the grit and hustle it takes to run a business, and they instilled in me a deep sense of accountability. I credit my success as a lawyer and business owner to that early exposure to responsibility and entrepreneurship. It taught me not just how to work but how to lead, how to serve, and how to build something meaningful from the ground up.
