Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Cloutier.
Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In the remote village of Mont-Laurier, nestled deep in the province of Quebec, a young dreamer began his extraordinary journey. From the icy ponds of his northern hometown, he honed his skills on the hockey rink, dreaming of one day donning the iconic jersey of the Boston Bruins.
His dreams became reality when he signed with the Bruins, embarking on a four-year journey in the world of professional hockey. However, fate had other plans, and his career was cut short by a devastating concussion, forcing him into early retirement.
Undeterred by adversity, he sought new horizons. He ventured south to Louisiana, where he attended UL Lafayette and immersed himself in entrepreneurship. With unwavering determination, he opened a teen club, providing a safe haven for adolescents to socialize and thrive.
As his entrepreneurial spirit flourished, he transformed his initial venture into a sports bar, then a bustling nightclub, becoming a prominent figure in Louisiana’s nightlife scene. But his thirst for new challenges was insatiable.
He pivoted once again, this time delving into the world of professional poker, where his strategic mind and competitive spirit propelled him to success. With winnings in hand, he built a family and made the leap to California, seeking new opportunities on the West Coast.
Returning to his roots in the business world, he embarked on ambitious ventures, including the establishment of The Reserve and The Catwalk, iconic destinations that captivated the imaginations of Californians. Yet, his entrepreneurial journey is far from over.
Currently, he sets his sights on his latest endeavor, The Manhattan, a project that promises to redefine luxury and sophistication in the heart of California. From the humble beginnings of a Canadian village to the glitz and glamour of California’s elite, his story is one of resilience, determination, and relentless pursuit of his dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A lot of struggles, it was not an easy road, I didn’t have any money once retired from hockey, so I had to do everything myself. I probably work 120 hrs. a week for 3 years straight. When I moved to California and reopened clubs, it was challenging because it was a totally different way of operating in Cali. I had to reinvent myself and offer what the clients wanted. but I always stay to my roots, which is always taking care of people. I met some very good operator and promoters, and they help.
We’ve been impressed with EMC Hospitality Group Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an in-house group that does it all from the conception of the projects to license, manage, market and operate. We also provided services to others who does need the help managing their entertainment establishment. We can turn around any venues into a profitable venues.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Yes, there will be a very big shift, there is already a big shift; many venues are shutting down, we are about to go into a big recession and the first thing that get his is the unnecessary expense which bottle service and paying a cover to go to a club is one of them. So, we will have to tight the business and keep cost low for a year or 2.
