A second-generation CPA, Divya was exposed to the profession early on, which helped shape her deep appreciation for both technical excellence and ethical financial stewardship.

She began her career in public accounting and went on to hold senior roles as an Auditor, Accounting Manager, and Controller for large organizations generating over $1 billion in annual revenue. After years of climbing the corporate ladder, Divya made the intentional decision to step away from the traditional corporate path and launch her own private practice—driven by a desire to work more closely with small and mid-sized businesses where she could truly make a difference. Her goal was not just to provide services, but to act as a trusted partner in an ever-evolving financial landscape.

Divya earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in California and Nevada, holds an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and has completed a Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.

Today, Divya is recognized for translating complex tax and accounting concepts into clear, actionable strategies that help business owners reduce tax liability, improve cash flow, and achieve long-term financial clarity. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it has not been a smooth road—and I don’t believe meaningful growth ever is. Transitioning from large, well-resourced organizations to building a firm from the ground up came with its own set of challenges. In the early stages, I was not only the CPA, but also the marketer, operations manager, systems builder, and educator for clients who were navigating finances and taxes for the first time.

One of the biggest challenges was shifting from a traditional corporate environment to entrepreneurship, where decisions carry immediate consequences and there is no roadmap. Building trust with clients, establishing scalable systems, and educating business owners in an increasingly complex tax landscape required patience, adaptability, and resilience.

Another challenge was redefining what a modern tax firm could look like—moving away from reactive compliance work and toward proactive strategy and advisory. That meant setting boundaries, investing in technology, and sometimes saying no to work that didn’t align with the firm’s long-term vision.

Each challenge, however, became a turning point. The obstacles forced clarity, strengthened leadership, and reinforced why Gill Tax Group exists—to serve as a true partner to business owners. Those early struggles ultimately shaped the firm into what it is today: strategic, client-focused, and built for sustainable growth.

What makes me happiest as the owner of Gill Tax Group is impact—on both our clients and our team. I believe happiness begins within, but when purpose, trust, and growth align, that happiness multiplies.
