Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Richardson.
Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a Los Angeles based optometrist + yoga teacher + founder of Fierce Clarity. I created Fierce Clarity as a holistic wellness space to empower modern professionals to live healthier lives after my own experience with self-healing.
While in optometry school, I suffered from stress-related illnesses and I found yoga as a stress-reduction tool. When I graduated in 2015, I went on a solo monthlong graduation trip to Bali to focus on my health and directly experienced the healing power of a holistic, healthy lifestyle. It was then I realized I wanted to share these tools + practices with other busy professionals who were suffering like me.
In 2016, I officially started Fierce Clarity (FC) as a wellness experiences company and hosted yoga retreats in Costa Rica and Sedona and pop-up events in Houston, Austin, Indianapolis, and LA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted to offer online yoga, corporate wellness workshops, and activewear to make your workouts + hangouts more fly!
I am a practicing optometrist at Zak located on Fairfax Ave and my science background and yogic studies blend together to create my unique approach to total wellness of the mind + body + soul. Prior to founding FC, I was a Division I cheerleader and taught as an instructor for seven years which ignited my love of sharing and teaching. I’m passionate about education and creating evidence-based wellness content to empower busy people to make healthier decisions. I am currently a PUMA fit collective trainer and a consultant for wellness and eye care companies.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first challenge I had to overcome was venturing outside of a “conventional” career path as an eye doctor to pursue entrepreneurship in the “woo woo” space! I owe my confidence to my late father. One of our last conversations was about my soul-sucking corporate job and he encouraged me to quit to explore other jobs/passions. When he passed away in 2016, I realized life is short and that I needed to begin to make my entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
My most recent challenge in building Fierce Clarity (FC) came as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which ended up as a positive turning point for us. During the lockdowns in March 2020, I offered free yoga classes on Instagram Live not knowing they would blossom into a robust online yoga teaching vertical for FC. This also opened the door for virtual yoga classes and wellness workshops for corporate clients like Whole Foods, Netflix, Tiktok, and Johnson & Johnson Vision.
Teaching online yoga during the pandemic inspired the creation of Fierce Clarity Activewear. I was searching for comfortable + chic activewear that was fashionable and functional. Unsatisfied with the fits + patterns on the current market, I decided to create the FC ACTIVE capsule collection of pieces that can be mixed + matched for convenience (even 5 minutes before a Zoom, lol)
Our activewear includes our mantra “Ask. Believe. Receive.” These three words are the necessary steps to create meaningful change + manifest your best life. We invite our FC Fam to wear our gear as a reminder that you are powerful beyond measure + capable of co-creating your reality!

Unfortunately, the current wellness market is saturated with companies that only present a singular view of health which can feel unattainable. Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Trust the process! The quote “most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in a decade” has been a mainstay on my journey. If you are pursuing entrepreneurship, remember it is a marathon not a sprint. You will have to grow, evolve, and pivot but you cannot quit. Success is a game of endurance and those who win are those who stay in the game.
