Inspiring Conversations with Claire Sofia of Grounded Sun

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Sofia.

Hi Claire , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path into this work started during a time of my life when I was feeling overwhelmed and disconnected while overworking myself in the restaurant industry. The yoga studio became the biggest safe haven for me, a place where I could reconnect with myself and see the bigger picture. They offered Restorative yoga with Reiki at my yoga studio, and these classes and the healers who taught them had a profound impact on my life in that particularly challenging time. I kept feeling more and more drawn to the community the studio provided.

That experience sparked a curiosity, and I decided to become certified in Reiki one summer. What started as a personal healing practice quickly expanded into something much bigger and completely shifted the direction of my life. From my very first training, I knew energy healing was what I was meant to do and share with others. Something in me just clicked, and it felt like a part of my life I hadn’t been able to access before had opened. I’ve always had a strong spiritual sensitivity, shaped by both my upbringing in a very intuitive household and my Egyptian and Native American roots, though it took time and training for me to understand how to ground and work with those gifts.

Since then, I’ve become a Reiki Master through two different lineages, Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki and Angelic Reiki, each of which has brought its own perspective, as well as completing my 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training. I’ve been lucky enough to train under incredible teachers and masters of the craft.

Today, I’ve built a private Reiki studio and event space in Los Angeles through my business Grounded Sun, where I work with private clients, host wellness experiences, and share full Reiki sessions online through my YouTube channel to make this work more accessible to people wherever they are.

At the base of everything I do is the desire to help others experience that same sense of grounding, attunement to their gifts, and inner connection to their higher selves that first drew me to this practice. What began as something that helped me navigate my own complex and overwhelming feelings has grown into work I feel lucky every day to share with others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but is it ever? Through most of it, I was also working full-time in the hospitality industry while slowly getting certified, often juggling multiple jobs just to support myself while pursuing what I felt incomprehensibly drawn to. There were a lot of long days and a lot of uncertainty, and I had to keep choosing this path even when it wasn’t immediately clear how it would all come together.

At the same time, I’ve been really lucky to have a supportive circle of friends and family who believed in me sharing my craft, even when I was still figuring it all out. That kind of encouragement made a huge difference, just having people remind me that I was on the right path when I needed it most. Stepping into something so intuitive and unseen required me to trust myself in a completely new way. Yet, there was always this clear inner knowing that I wasn’t meant to go in any other direction. That sense of alignment kept pulling me forward, and I’m so grateful for it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is called Grounded Sun! At its core, it’s an online and in-person space for energetic healing, self-connection, and community.

I offer 1-on-1 Reiki healing sessions and community-based events, including Reiki healing circles, oracle card readings, and goddess gatherings. Both individual and group work are unique; one allows for intimate, personalized healing, and the other creates a sense of connection and shared experience, which I believe is just as transformative.

My private sessions are highly intuitive, personal, and structured to support both energetic clearing and deeper insight. I work through the full energy system, tuning into the chakras and what I sense within the body’s energetic field to bring forward messages, patterns, blocks, and gifts that are ready to be seen. We close with an oracle card pull and a short integration where we reflect on the guidance, the energetic shifts, and next steps for alignment and healing. I want those who come to me to feel seen, shining a light on their highest selves.

What makes my work unique is my intuitive sensitivity, which I’ve spent years learning and studying. I experience energy through claircognizance, clairtangency, and clairsentience, which essentially means I can know, feel, and sense energetic information within the field. I share what comes through verbally in real time during sessions, always as a channel rather than the source. I’m very clear that I’m not giving anyone their energy or answers; I’m simply holding space and reflecting what is already within them.

That distinction is really important to me. The foundation of my work is helping people reconnect with their own inner guidance. I believe everyone already holds the answers they’re seeking. My role is to help quiet the external noise so they can actually hear it. It’s about returning people to their own highest self and their own intuition.

What I’m most proud of is creating a space, both online and in-person, where people feel supported, seen, and most of all less alone in their healing journey. Whether it’s through private sessions, YouTube offerings, or group events, my intention is always the same: to make this work accessible, grounded, and real in a way that meets people exactly where they are.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is working with clients and witnessing their inner glow. There’s something really meaningful about seeing someone come in feeling overwhelmed or disconnected and gradually start to open and reconnect with themselves.

I also really love creating spaces where people can come together and feel held, whether that’s through individual sessions or group events. There’s something so meaningful about shared healing, about people realizing they’re not alone in what they’re moving through.

A big part of what brings me joy is also simply giving people permission to rest. In a world that moves so fast, it feels important to offer a space where people can slow down, breathe, and be with themselves without pressure. Watching people reconnect with their own intuition and begin to trust what they already carry within them is honestly the most joy-inducing part of my work.

And I think at the heart of it, I just love seeing people have that same reconnection experience I had, reconnecting with their own unconditionally loving sense of self.
