Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Tompkins.
Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My design career stemmed from my strong interest in fashion, which I pursued at the University of Arizona. After graduating, I pursued a career in project management for a high-end custom builder in Malibu.
There I found my love for watching a construction project blossom from the ground up and learned the logistics of ensuring a project runs smoothly from start to finish.
I founded MP James in 2018. We quickly escalated from smaller projects in the local area to larger projects in Beverly Hills, Century City, and Hidden Hills. I built MP James Design on the foundation that Design should be fun! We aim to make the process exciting and enjoyable for all projects big and small.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Initially, we thought Covid was going to throw a wrench into the construction industry but it turned out to be the exact opposite. Business really took off during this time and we were busier than ever. It actually ended up being a great turning point where people really wanted to invest in their homes and make them their own personal sanctuaries.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a boutique firm specializing in high-end residential design. We love seeing what excites our clients and bringing those details into their homes in fresh and exciting ways. Whether that be incorporating moments from their travels or letting personal artwork inspire the direction of the project, we want each space to feel uniquely beautiful to the people living in it.
Over the years, we’ve also had the opportunity to work on a few creative commercial spaces and have loved being able to create playful interiors that cultivate positive company culture and peaceful work environments.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was growing up playing competitive soccer.
