Hidden Gems: Meet Tracie Wong of Real Brokerage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracie Wong.

Hi Tracie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was raised in Rosemead, California, so the San Gabriel Valley has always been home to me. Growing up here gave me a strong connection to the community and an appreciation for how much where we live can shape our lives, our families, and our future.

My professional journey actually started in the restaurant industry. Working in restaurants gave me some of my earliest experiences in customer service, and I quickly realized how much I enjoyed working with people. I loved meeting people from different backgrounds, building connections, and being able to create a positive experience for them. That experience ultimately inspired me to pursue Hospitality Management at California State University, Long Beach.

After graduating from college, I decided to get my real estate license. I’ve always loved working with people, and real estate felt like a natural way to take that passion for service and apply it to something even more meaningful. I was drawn to the idea of being able to guide people through one of the biggest milestones in their lives—buying or selling a home.

Looking back, my hospitality background became a great foundation for my real estate career. Working in the restaurant industry taught me the importance of customer service, communication, attention to detail, adaptability, and creating a positive experience for people. Those are skills I still use every day in real estate. I later went on to earn my MBA, which helped me further develop the business, marketing, negotiation, and strategic side of my career.

When I first started in real estate, I focused on learning as much as I could and building genuine relationships. Over time, my business grew through referrals, repeat clients, and people trusting me enough to introduce me to their friends and family. Today, I work with buyers, sellers, investors, and families throughout Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, with a strong presence in the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding communities.

One of the things I love most about this career is that no two clients or transactions are exactly the same. For some people, I’m helping them purchase their very first home. For others, they’re selling a longtime family home, moving into something larger, downsizing, or purchasing an investment property. There’s usually a bigger life story behind every transaction, and being trusted to guide someone through that process is something I don’t take lightly.

Over the years, I’ve also learned how important it is to constantly evolve. Real estate is always changing, so I’ve continued investing in my education, marketing, technology, social media, and the systems I use to better serve my clients. At the same time, I never want the business to become so focused on numbers that I lose the personal connection that made me love working with people in the first place.

More recently, my husband, Di, has joined me in real estate, which has made this next chapter especially exciting. We complement each other well and are able to serve both English- and Mandarin-speaking clients while continuing to expand our business throughout Southern California. What started as my own career after college is now becoming something we’re building together.

Looking back, it’s interesting to see how everything connects. Starting in the restaurant industry sparked my passion for hospitality and serving others, which eventually led me to real estate. I’m grateful that I took the chance on getting my real estate license early in my career. What began as a desire to work with people and be part of an important milestone in their lives has grown into a career and business that I’m incredibly passionate about.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I think the challenges are a big part of what has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

One of the biggest challenges early on was learning how to build a business from the ground up. Real estate is very entrepreneurial—you’re not just an agent; you’re also responsible for generating business, marketing yourself, managing your time, building relationships, negotiating, problem-solving, and making sure your clients are taken care of. There isn’t necessarily a clear roadmap, so a lot of my growth came from experience, learning from each transaction, and figuring out what worked and what didn’t.

The unpredictability of the business was another adjustment. The real estate market is constantly changing. I’ve worked through different interest-rate environments, shifts between buyer and seller markets, changing inventory levels, and periods when buyers or sellers were hesitant to make a move. You learn pretty quickly that you can’t control the market—you can only control how well you understand it, how you adapt, and how effectively you guide your clients through it.

There’s also an emotional side to real estate that people don’t always see. Buying or selling a home is a major financial decision, but it’s also very personal. Deals don’t always go according to plan. Inspections uncover unexpected issues, negotiations can become difficult, financing can change, and sometimes a home that a client loves simply doesn’t work out. Learning how to stay calm, find solutions, and continue advocating for my clients even when things become stressful has been one of the most valuable lessons of my career.

Another challenge has been learning how to balance growth with maintaining the level of service I want every client to receive. As my business has grown, I’ve had to become more intentional about my systems, communication, and time. I never want someone to feel like they’re just another transaction. That has pushed me to continually improve the way I run my business while still keeping the personal, relationship-focused approach that has always been important to me.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the difficult transactions, slower markets, and moments when things didn’t go exactly as planned because they forced me to become more adaptable and resilient. Real estate has taught me that success isn’t about everything going smoothly—it’s about how you respond when it doesn’t. Every challenge has made me a stronger agent and better prepared to guide my clients through whatever comes their way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Real Brokerage?
I’m a Realtor with Real Brokerage, a modern, technology-driven real estate company that gives agents the flexibility to build their own businesses while having access to a larger network, technology, training, and support. I was drawn to Real because its entrepreneurial culture aligns with the way I want to grow my business.
One of the things I appreciate most about Real is that agents have opportunities to build beyond their individual transactions. The company’s model incorporates technology, agent ownership, revenue sharing, collaboration, and professional development, which creates an environment where agents are encouraged to think like business owners.

It’s also been exciting to see Real’s growth. In August 2026, Real completed its acquisition of RE/MAX Holdings, bringing together Real’s technology-driven platform with one of the most recognized names in real estate under the newly formed Real REMAX Group. The combined organization represents more than 180,000 real estate professionals across more than 120 countries and territories. Being part of a company experiencing that level of growth while continuing to focus on innovation is exciting to me.

Within Real Brokerage, my focus is residential real estate throughout Southern California. One of the areas I’m especially passionate about is marketing. When I represent a seller, I believe a home deserves more than simply being placed on the MLS. Depending on the property, my marketing can include professional photography and video, social media, digital marketing, open houses, targeted outreach, and direct communication with other agents and potential buyers. I also create community-focused content highlighting neighborhoods and lifestyles throughout the areas I serve.

On the buyer side, I put a lot of emphasis on research and strategy. I’m very data-driven, so I spend a significant amount of time analyzing comparable sales, current and pending competition, market activity, neighborhood trends, and the individual characteristics of a property. I want my clients to understand not only what a home is listed for, but what the data suggests it may actually be worth and how we can position an offer accordingly.
Another part of my business that has become increasingly important is technology. I use digital tools to help clients search for homes, monitor new inventory, understand market changes, and stay informed throughout the transaction. At the same time, I think technology is most effective when it supports good service rather than replaces it.

My husband, Di, is also a Realtor with Real Brokerage, and our ability to serve both English- and Mandarin-speaking clients is an important part of what we offer. It allows us to communicate directly with multiple generations of a family and make the process more accessible for clients who are more comfortable discussing important financial and real estate decisions in Mandarin.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a business that combines modern marketing and technology with a very hands-on approach. I want clients to see me as more than the person who opens doors or puts a sign in the yard. My role is to understand the market, develop a strategy, anticipate potential issues, negotiate effectively, and help my clients make informed decisions from beginning to end.

Being part of Real Brokerage gives me the platform and resources to continue expanding that vision, and I’m excited to see where both the company and our own business go from here.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned throughout my career is that growth comes from being willing to put yourself out there, stay consistent, and keep learning. Real estate has pushed me outside of my comfort zone in so many ways, and I’m grateful for every client, colleague, mentor, friend, and family member who has supported me along the way.

I’m especially excited about this next chapter as my husband, Di, and I continue building our business together. We have big goals for the future, but at the core of everything we do, we want to stay grounded in taking care of people and being a resource for our community.

For anyone thinking about buying, selling, investing, or even pursuing a career in real estate, I’m always happy to connect and share what I’ve learned. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting—the first step can simply be asking questions and learning what your options are.

And finally, I’d love to thank VoyageLA for giving me the opportunity to share my story. It’s really special to be able to reflect on how far I’ve come and where I hope to go next. I’m excited to see what the next chapter brings!
