Hidden Gems: Meet Tina Damadyan of Tina D Agent realtor at Equity Union

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Damadyan.

Hi Tina , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
How I started in real estate was very much so meant to be yet completely accidental. My father whom I always looked up to went from smaller business owner to fix and flipper to developer prior to the 2008 crash. I would go to job sites with him, assist in picking stones and finishes and thought this is exactly what I wanted to do with my life, I then grew up went to college and majored in marketing with a minor in business because I had long forgotten about development and following in my fathers footsteps, I was going to take over advertising! I graduated landed a job in “marketing” for a health care company and learned very quickly that in LA marketing meant sales, I hate sales and to be though of as a sales person, even more so I hated healthcare. After a little over a year I needed out, a friend of mine said the building where her company leased office space from was looking to hire, she didn’t know the position or any details but thought me and the women in charge would really hit it off and so I handed her my resume and she passed it on, the position ended up as a marketing and leasing role for a property management company owned and operated by a private development group who specialized in large scale mix-use multi-family and office builds. This began my 13 year career with them where I worked my way up from marketing and leasing to director of marketing to manager of a property, to regional manager over seeing 5 buildings and thousands of units . I was hands on from the start of new developments from managing GCs, permits, architectural plans and layouts, design, pricing, hiring, training, legal, rent rolls, the list goes on and on you name it I did. Guess the 12 year old me had manifested into my reality a career in development just like my dad. 13 years and the job being on autopilot and the ceiling being reached in my early 30s I wanted a new challenge, a change. My real estate license I had gotten 5 years prior to have for when I did my own flips and projects expired and I had to renew it, figured if I was going to do so and I wanted a change why not give it a go for real. I went into real estate, full time as an agent in the peek of the COVID LA real estate market. Finding clients a breeze getting offers accepted, good luck but some how with my charm and my grit I did it. I got offers expected for clients who had worked with several agents before me, agents who had been doing it for years and years with no luck and here I was getting their offers accepted, sometimes even when we weren’t the highest offer. I had a knack for this, it came naturally and I did $10,000,000 in sales my first year which is a rare in this industry. From there with experience, growing my network, establishing a reputation of hard work, diligence, honestly and integrity (also rare in this industry sadly) my business took off .

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has been nothing but a smooth road. There is no such thing in this filed. Each transaction comes with hurdles, stresses, issues to resolve, delays, lots of negotiations even past price points and after accepted offers. For the first 2 -3 years I cried through every escrow, behind the scenes of course so no client ever saw the struggle or felt any stress my job is to make it a smooth process for them one thats enjoyable that they will think back on fondly after all this is one of the biggest purchases they will ever make and for some them accomplishing their biggest goals/ dreams.
