Hidden Gems: Meet Nilo G Low of THE BCF & Kapture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nilo G Low.

Nilo G Low

Hi Nilo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It began with a diagnosis that hit close to home. As a teenager, I stood alongside my best friend as his mother, Tiziana, faced the difficult diagnosis of breast cancer. Watching her navigate treatments, uncertainty, and the emotional toll of preserving her identity as a woman left a profound impact on me. In my first year of college, I acted on a simple idea to host a cocktail party in my parents’ backyard aimed at raising awareness and a bit of money for breast cancer research. Thirty friends came together and gave $5 each, raising $150 that night for a national breast cancer organization.
What was intended as a one-time gesture quickly gained momentum. Encouraged by the support and growing interest, the event became an annual tradition. With each passing year, attendance multiplied, donations grew, and what began as a backyard fundraiser transformed into a significant community event. By its seventh year, we were welcoming over 500 guests and raising more than $30,000 annually. It then grew to cities throughout the country and I established THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser (THE BCF) as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aimed to preserve the dignity of breast cancer patients and their loved ones by providing tangible, compassionate care.
What still amazes me two decades later, is not only did this random act of kindness turn into a purposeful way to give back – but it is how my passion for event planning and design started. And here I am today, still voluntarily leading THE BCF serving as the President of the Board as well as growing a widely successful boutique events & experiential agency called Kapture supporting global brands in sports and entertainment with their most high-touch hospitality events.
Sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures — a backyard gathering, a $5 donation — that ignite lasting change and light up the passion & purpose in each of us.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing two companies at the same time has its fair share of challenges, especially when you’re building something from the ground up with limited resources. Without the backing of any investors or large donors, the leading factor in starting something out of nothing is just the pure belief in oneself, the cause and having the clarity to know what feels right and makes sense along the way.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
It’s often said that no meaningful journey is ever traveled alone, and that couldn’t be more true for me. The path has only felt smooth because of the incredible people I’ve met along the way. Both at THE BCF and Kapture, it’s only because of the people along the way that we’ve seen such a great impact in the work we do. Shout outs go out to my leadership team at Kapture: Lena Ready who has been by my side since the first day I started Kapture and is now the Creative Director, Andrea Curlee who has changed the game for us and been a part of the company for 10 years, and my amazing husband and business partner, Warren Low who I met close to 10 years ago when I shared “I only have a couple babies” and referred to Kapture and THE BCF. Together, we have built a thriving creative agency that connects people and places through the art of events. On THE BCF side, there are so many people that have given this organization the heartbeat that it has … Deanna Blanchet (our first employee, who was committed to helping it grow, grow, grow and the countless cancer survivors and fighters that have breathed all the inspiration into why we exist: Tiziana Ducoulombier, Allison Giardinelli, Natalie Grumet, Erin Monroe, Malibu Dana, Doreen Dann, Neusha Raffijandi, Charlotte Martin and too many others to name in cities across this country. From volunteers who showed up without hesitation, to donors who contributed goods and services when we needed them most, every gesture has helped carry this vision forward. Their belief in our cause turned challenges into opportunities and fueled our ability to make a real impact. It’s their generosity and unwavering support that transformed a simple idea into a lasting force for good. Without them, none of this would have been possible… and I’m telling you – there are A LOT of them!
