Today we’d like to introduce you to Geomyra Pollard.
Hi Geomyra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a proud wife, mother of two and have been fortunate to be an entrepreneur for 16 years right out of college. I started the journey of entrepreneurship, knowing that I ultimately wanted to be my own boss. I anticipated that at some point in my life that I would want to have a family and a career. But more importantly, a career that would support the lifestyle that I had in mind for my family and myself. After years of working as a wedding and event planner, about five years ago I pivoted and opened up a coaching firm for small business owners. I did so with the mission of educating because creative business owners on the importance of designing a life that feels well-rounded without sacrificing sanity in the process. My thought process was to share my decade-plus of experience and insights with other creatives so that they can work smarter and not harder. I was always aware of the fact that being your own boss allows for freedom, flexibility, and the option to soar on your own terms. In my current role as a business coach, I am blessed to help others achieve all three.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges that I have faced as a business owner to date is juggling family priorities and satisfying clients at the same time. During my busiest wedding season and within the same year that I had my first child, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Eight months to the day she was diagnosed, she passed away after a brutal fight.
In that season, I was faced with many decisions that would ultimately shift the trajectory of my business and my mindset to date. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia around the time that I was launching my coaching business. The diagnosis has forced me to be intentional with how I spend my time and energy. As a person that lives with a chronic illness, I have learned the importance of showing up and doing my best whenever possible. However, I have also learned the importance of giving and receiving grace in the process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I run a coaching firm, Living Well-Rounded with Geomyra (LWR), for small business owners and executives. Living Well-Rounded with Geomyra provides coaching services, courses, and resources and produces a podcast (Living Well-Rounded with Geomyra). Our mission is to be a guiding light for those seeking a profitable business along with a life filled with grace, passion, and purpose. Our clients are determined to go for their big dreams and live fulfilling lives they are proud of. We specialize in enriching clients to implement systems, workflows, and processes, so they have more time for the things they love. We also focus on elevating the client experience and streamlining workload and outsourcing. What sets LWR apart from other brands is the idea that we build brands and businesses around the notion that family and self will always come first. I am most proud of the work that I do because I know that the skills and lessons learned will be life-changing in the long run.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me over anything is my family. I am very family-oriented and love spending time with my immediate and extended family. The work that I do and the service that I provide will always be a priority. I have worked extremely hard over the years to build a business around my family and the lifestyle that I desire.
