Today we’d like to introduce you to En-May Mangels.
Hi En-May, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was three years old when mom and dad found me speaking to dead people. My sandbox in the backyard of our Canoga Park home was my sanctuary; the place I would first meet my own ancestors over my porcelain tea party cups to learn of their past and their continued role in my present and future life. Their past was verified by my dad. Sometimes they would sit with me for days. Other times, they would visit only for a moment – appearing like an out-of-focus glimmer of a star, and quickly disappear. These ancestors would become my Super Natural Team, my spiritual guides; my Kimono Ghost Crew. If it weren’t for the supportive understanding of my immigrant parents, I’d have probably ended up in an institution for mental illness. Rather, my dad said I was gifted with something lovingly known as the family curse; a high level of intuitive, spiritual awareness that ran in the lineage of my Chinese heritage. My mom was born in Tokyo, Japan. This didn’t alarm her. She already knew this was going to be her eldest daughter’s life path – to become an intuitive advisor.
Yes, I am an original Valley Girl, attending public schools, jumping from one university to another. I was a visual/tactile learner. Put me in a lecture hall, or stick my nose in a book. I would find myself astral traveling in another dimension. Overwhelmed by the ever-increasing clairvoyant whispers, visions, thoughts, even smells made it difficult at times. At childhood, several psychologists diagnosed me as hyper-imaginative, even schizophrenic. Until I was introduced to a world-renowned psychic medium, who worked with high government officials and the entertainment trade. He explained that this phenomenon was not an illness or an incurable disease. I was HSP, a Hyper Sensitive Person with heightened intuitive senses. This was my “normal.”
In college, I studied international business and foreign affairs, being groomed to go into consulate work. I was not at all interested in adhering to political influencers or legal restraints. I moved into the private sector; first to work with my parent’s import and export company. During meetings with manufacturers and buyers, I sensed a vision of what an ideal outcome looked like; what was needed to bring mutual success. Yes, my intuition kicked into overdrive. Unexpected wins earned me a reputation as something of a lucky charm, that I was often called to act as an arbitrator by business leaders in joint ventures, property development, entertainment,
Family History:
Mom was in entertainment as a singer, television actress, and business entrepreneur. Dad was a photographer when first coming to the US, and opened the Hai-Wei Kitchen, the valley’s first Chinese take-out restaurant on the corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Victory in 1957. The OGs in the restaurant business know Mr. Chu invented the first paper Chinese Take-Out container. Due to the Chinese Exclusionary Act, Chinese-born people were not allowed to own US patents, own property, or marry outside of their own Asian ethnicity – just to name a few atrocities in one sentence. This began his 25 years as a Southern California restauranteur, opening and selling 15 locations. I learned to cook during those years, and manage, and feel my own entrepreneurial spirit of being Boss Lady. Together, we opened a national importing and exporting company supplying global operations with soft goods, food and beverage, and toys.
My mom’s entertainment career exposed me early to many well-known recording artists, producers, and business management professionals. They would often ask me where’s my next big gig, who they should duet with, should they change recording studios. This became strategic planning. Data, past experiences, or “Fan” fulfillment was only one part of having a stellar performance. It was a success if we could meet the heart-driven joys of a performer, company owner. With an intuitive perspective to elevate careers, relocations, mergers and acquisitions, marriages and even divorces, we found solutions that had sustainability, greater rewards, improved relationships I was their confidant; their secret in their back pocket.
Today, I live near Seattle, WA with my husband, Jack. My remarkable and crazy-fun career as an Intuitive Business and Personal Advisor to a respected, global clientele gives me tremendous joy being able to help improve the quality of many lives. There are times when my clients require me to jet off or sail to luxurious destinations to interview a potential performer, athlete, or merger. There are also more intimate assignments; ritual services such as to minister a wedding, a funeral, bless a development property, or a cord-cutting to dissolve toxic relations. Using intuitive insight, I work beside my clients to clear the way to a positive mindset; actualizing the desired results or something even beyond expectation.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mangels LLC dba En-May Mangels. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
If you come to my office, you might notice a few semi-precious relics to my homage to Hello Kitty (R). A tabletop water fountain releases the sounds of tranquility and the scent of frankincense and tangerines. We’ll enjoy a cup of tea as I share a meditation I had of you earlier that same morning. It contains a conversation I enjoyed with your Spirit Guides revealing what is a primary disturbance, a shift of circumstances, or a complication that is seeking untanglement. This meditation will sometimes include an itinerary into your past, present, and future.
“How the hell did you do that?” “You don’t even know me.” “Did somebody tell you what’s happening in my life right now?” The feel and look of surprise, sometimes tears, or shock, still tickles me. Every tear has a story. I never get tired of that reaction. And then we get down to business. I explain that these insights come from decades in practice to intuitively visualize your greatest outcome, your highest good, and let you enact your free will to take the next action steps towards that finish line.
What do I specialize in?/What am I known for?
I teach my clients how to access and trust their intuitive insights. Most clients arrive with an oversized baggage of fear; fear of failing, of making the wrong decision, or the biggy, the fear of not being good enough. These are instinct-driven fears, doubts, and worries. I specialize in turning down the anxiety of instinct to help my clients make confident and smart decisions accessing their own intuitive senses.
Intuition is a powerful, pre-loaded, accessible gift each person is born with. While I am here to assist entrepreneurial business leaders, real estate professionals, health practitioners, troubled marriages, and even unruly, toxic spirits in the triage phase of decision-crisis, my intention is to help my clients remember that the heart-based intuitive self in us all has a loving, mutually respectful solution.
What are you most proud of brand wise?
I am honored, proud of, and cherish my relationships with my clients. There is confidentiality, trust, and compassion established in a handshake. A massage therapist seeking a career shift. A restauranteur exhausted of the hours. A Grammy winner ready to call it quits. A famous amusement park facing the financial effects of a global pandemic. The ghosts of a murdered family stopping the sale of their once-happy home. One Bichon Frise who told me, “Dad is having an affair with the neighbor lady, and I get to have a steak every time she comes over.” Each conundrum has it’s own solution. Intuition is a heart-based, seer of truths. It doesn’t have the capacity to lie, cheat, harm, or be false.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve had 5 shamans, a naturopath, and an attorney on speed dial since I was five. You just never know what’s going to come out unfilterized from my outloud thoughts. I have many spiritual guides in both our natural world and spiritual sources to support and protect me as well. My own family, chosen family, and friends have all been supportive and protective of my gifts and profession. I crave continued studies of a variety of spiritual practices and meet like-minded individuals to support our crafts.
I was blessed to acquire ideal mentors throughout my career and personal development. While in my early teens our family friend, with world-renowned talents as a remote viewer, medium, and governement arbitration skillsets took me under his wing to share taming techniques for the empathic mind. Meditations, energy tools like bending spoons for yuks and giggles, understanding that we control what spirits we invite (and not the otherway around), elevating my other clair-senses. When he transitioned, I felt a deep loss of such a confidant’ and yet I carry his joyful spirit we me always.
I was so very fortunate to have the business mentoring from both my mom and dad. Entrepreneuralship is not for sissies. It’s an odd pleasure to me to be able to pay my taxes. It means I’m doing well, and I’m very proud of that.
Today, I am the mentor. I offer a mentoring program for the advancement of those wanting to establish a spiritual practice; first to address the how-to’s of elevating a new practitioner from a scarcity mindset to one of authentic abundance is primary. Topics managing your own spirit business include forming your LLC, promoting and marketing, adhering to confidentiality in selecting and posting social media responsibly, upgrading your purposeful passion. Lastly, to always have fun, or don’t do this.
Networking is a must. For me I have found attending online and in-person events that I find interesting, from dog lovers, to real estate development; burnt out healthcare professionals, to entertainment. I will step up to the shyest, quietest, wallflower, skeptic; all to learn more about what that person needs to make their next dream come true.
