Hidden Gems: Meet Den and Irene Carino of Salt & Light Photobooth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Den and Irene Carino.

Hi Den and Irene, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello! Thank you so much for having us. We are Den & Irene, a husband-wife duo, followers of Jesus, and owners of Salt & Light Photobooth, a family & veteran-owned and operated small business based in Burbank, CA.

We met each other in late May of 2021, then I(Irene) got laid off from my nursing job in April of 2022 right before we got married in May of 2022. While I tried looking and applying for nursing jobs, Den and I also started brainstorming ideas of what we could pursue together that we both loved. So just to give you a quick background, Den has experience in photography, and I loved creating designs, and we also both loved events. So we thought, why not try the photo booth business?

We told a friend who owned a photo booth company based in San Diego about this, and he was kind enough to let us help him with one of his events, and after that we knew this was something Den and I would love to do. After that I(Irene) haven’t really found a nursing job that worked out for the schedule that I needed, so I’m managing our business full-time.

Fast forward today, we have been so blessed to capture so many memories, be a part of so many celebrations, and so thankful to have met, be inspired, and be a part of an amazing photo booth community of like-minded individuals.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, being newly married and also owning a small business has brought out lots of good and lots of challenges at the same time. We quickly realized that communication was so crucial in everything. And not only that but we also learned the importance of balancing our priorities, time management, and keeping God in the center of everything we do so that we don’t lose sight of what matters and why we do what we do. We’re still learning every day and we’re just so blessed to be doing life together.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We at Salt & Light Photobooth provide excellent customer service and a fun, high-quality, and unique experience tailored to every client’s vison. Our goal is our clients’ satisfaction from the time of inquiry until we deliver their galleries. With every event, we bring fun vibes while capturing memories. We offer different experiences like having instant prints, digital captures (gifs/boomerangs), glam, audio guestbook, flower walls, backdrops, curated props, and more. We serve the LA, Orange, and Ventura Counties and cater to different kinds of events, from Weddings, Parties, Corporate, and anything in between.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for us is when we are able to balance our priorities which are our faith, family, and work. And doing this with joy and passion while being able to provide not only for our needs but also have enough to share with others.
