Hidden Gems: Meet Christian Martinez of The Potty People

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Martinez

Hi Christian , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Los Angeles, I was raised by my late grandmother, a woman whose strength and dedication to hard work shaped my life in countless ways. Our home was modest, nestled in a neighborhood (SELA) that taught me the value of community and resilience. My grandmother worked tirelessly to ensure I had the essentials in life. She instilled in me the belief that no task was too small and that every job should be done with pride and precision.
Her influence was profound. Watching her navigate life’s challenges with unwavering determination taught me importance of hard work, discipline, and the drive to create something meaningful. It was these lessons that would later become the foundation of my entrepreneurial journey.

After years of working a 3/12 schedule and having some spare time, I found myself yearning for a venture that was not only profitable but also provided a unique service to my community. That’s when the idea of The Potty People was born. My wife and I recognized a need for luxury mobile restrooms that could offer comfort and elegance, even in the most unexpected places. We wanted to create a service that went beyond the ordinary, providing a high-end experience that combined convenience with a touch of luxury.

Launching The Potty People was a leap of faith, but we were driven by the same work ethic my grandmother had instilled in me. Together with my wife, we poured our hearts into every detail of the business, from the design of the restrooms to the customer service experience. We wanted our clients to feel cared for, knowing that every aspect of their needs had been anticipated and met with the highest standards.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges, but the lessons we learned have lead us to grow. Today The Potty People stands as a testament to the power of hard work, family, and the belief that even the most humble beginnings can lead to success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of our biggest challenges came just as we were gearing up for our first major event.
The water tank, a crucial component of the restroom unit, was designed to be both efficient and reliable. But during a routine test, we noticed a leak that threatened the entire operation. It wasn’t just a small drip, it was a defect that could render the restroom unusable and damage our reputation before we even got off the ground.

Panic had set in and I spent countless nights looking for a solution. We consulted mobile RV repair guys, did our research in water tanks to check if it was in our budget to buy a new one. Time was ticking, and the stress was overwhelming. In the end our persistence paid off. We found a skilled technician who was able to repair the defect just in time for our debut event. The first event went without a hitch, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Guests were impressed by the quality and comfort of our restrooms.
