Hidden Gems: Meet Ana Del Castillo of My Rightness; Know Your Rightness Right Now

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Del Castillo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent my childhood in a home filled with violence and sexual trauma, which started at the age of five. As a result, I became very rebellious and turned into the quintessential “bad girl.” It helped on a certain level because it got me into therapy, and at 21, I left home and became a successful actress and singer on Broadway, performing in shows like Les Miserables and my one-person show.

The truth is, I was a successful, dynamic, unfeeling, unhappy person.

Several years later, my father and brother were murdered in a brutal gangland-style killing. And that traumatic event shattered me so profoundly that I swung in the other direction and started “doing everything right.” I got married to a man my family approved of, I climbed the corporate ladder to the C-Suite level, bought a home, went back to school, etc. But I discovered that I was just as miserable and dead inside no matter how perfect and “good” I tried to be.

Eventually, I got tired of being unhappy and of pretzeling myself or reacting, so I committed to what I would later discover was my innate rightness. It is power that is based on an inner congruency, and it doesn’t need to be justified, argued for, defended, or explained.

From that starting place of not needing to be “bad” or “good” but instead coming from my inherent goodness and rightness, I learned that I could trust myself. It helped me create my life from the ground up, transforming the traumatic events of my life into a felt experience of genuine grace and perfect imperfection.

As a result, my life and all my relationships – whether to myself or others – look and feel vital, dynamic, and alive. It’s a far cry from where I started, and this I know is what’s possible for others as well.

Today I coach and lead women to do this for themselves on an individual and group basis.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building an entrepreneurial life is rarely a smooth road or straight line.

So much of what it looks like is figuring out, in real-time, how to trust oneself even when appearances seem contrary. Also, entrepreneurs learn on their own time and dime, so the stakes can feel high at times. But the rewards are unbelievable!

Each time I face a fear or work through something I thought I could not, it’s given me a sort of supercharged confidence and sense of worth that is without measure. It’s priceless. Probably the most important thing I have learned is not to let myself get stopped. To have the courage to lean in and learn whatever lesson there is to learn, but not to stop. I don’t ever give up on myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about your business, My Rightness?
I am a women’s Rightness Expert and Certified Empowerment Coach with over 20 years of experience. My passion is galvanizing women to get off the painful treadmill of needing to ‘do life right’ to fix the constant phantom experience that there’s ‘something wrong’…

I know so many amazing women who are doing extraordinary things in their lives. They’re remarkable! They have it all and do it all, yet they consistently feel dead and unsatisfied in their lives.

I work with these women, and together we address the underlying source of their suffering. I create transformative experiences for my clients so they can own their inherent rightness and feel vital and alive in their skin and lives again, no matter the circumstances or events of their lives.

What sets me apart from others is that I am undaunted by people’s stories and traumas. I know how to go where angels fear to tread and compassionately yet fearlessly address the very core of where a person’s shattering or split took place. I stand for my clients in a way that most can’t because I’ve stood for myself in a way that most have never had to. I know how to support people in creating new patterns and new neuronal pathways that may never have been made in the first place.

I have a YouTube channel dedicated to personality adaptations called “Disorderly Conducts” that I am particularly proud of. My story and work have also been featured in several podcasts, on NPR, in People Magazine, Shout Out LA, The NY Post, and published in the book “The Moth Presents Occasional Magic.” I have also performed my story at Lincoln Center for The Moth’s book launch.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
In no particular order… sunny days, being around animals, singing, salsa music, dancing, a satisfying workout, eating great food that’s been made and served with love, travel, deep and meaningful conversations that go everywhere, having my skills and talents be used well, and finally, the gift of getting to do life with my husband.
