Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoltan Peresztegi.
Zoltan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Zoltan Peresztegi, most people call me Zoli, and I’m a real estate agent specializing in the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the South Bay of Los Angeles. I’m the founder of SellWithZoli, and I help homeowners sell their homes, buyers find the right property, and investors create value in one of the most beautiful and unique real estate markets in Southern California.
But I didn’t start in real estate. I came from tech. For years, I worked in data analytics and digital marketing, building systems that helped businesses make smarter decisions using data. I was good at it, but something was missing. I wanted work that was more tangible, more rooted in community, and more directly connected to people’s lives.
The shift happened when I truly fell in love with the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I had moved to Rancho Palos Verdes and quickly realized there was no place quite like it in Southern California. The dramatic ocean bluffs, the quiet canyon roads, the tight-knit neighborhoods, and the wild peacocks roaming through Malaga Cove. I became obsessed with understanding it: the four cities, each community’s unique governance, the geology, the history.
When I got my real estate license, I brought my entire tech background with me. I built SellWithZoli (sellwithzoli.com) around the idea that sellers and buyers in the South Bay deserve a data-first, modern approach: AI-powered pricing analysis, professional photography, precision digital advertising, and hyper-local knowledge that goes far beyond a surface-level market report. I also earned the PVPAR PV Specialist designation, one of the most rigorous local certifications on the Peninsula, because I wanted my expertise to be real and not just claimed.
Today I work with homeowners selling on the Peninsula and across the South Bay, buyers relocating to the area, and investors looking to create value. I also host the Palos Verdes Podcast with SellWithZoli. The five-star Google reviews from my clients mean more to me than any metric. They reflect the trust people have placed in a different kind of agent, and that’s what SellWithZoli is built on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, no. It has not been a smooth road.
Starting over in a new industry as an adult is humbling in ways I didn’t fully anticipate. I had spent years building real expertise in tech and data, and then I walked into real estate as a complete unknown. No track record, no referral network built up over decades, no past clients to vouch for me. Just a license and a belief that I could do this differently.
The hardest part early on was earning trust. Real estate is a relationship business, and relationships take time. People are making the biggest financial decision of their lives, and they want someone they know, or someone a friend swears by. Being the new guy with an unusual background and a data-driven pitch is not an automatic sell. There were moments where I questioned whether the approach was right, or whether I was just talking myself into thinking it was.
The PV market specifically has a steep learning curve that I underestimated at first. It is not one neighborhood. It is four separate cities with completely different rules, governance structures, disclosure requirements, and community cultures. Rolling Hills is entirely gated with strict architectural controls. Palos Verdes Estates has an Art Jury that reviews exterior designs. Parts of Rancho Palos Verdes have active landslide zones with serious disclosure obligations. Getting that knowledge to a level where I could genuinely protect my clients took time and deliberate effort, including going through the full PVPAR PV Specialist certification.
But looking back, the struggle was necessary. The trust I have with clients today was built transaction by transaction, review by review. Nothing was handed to me, and I think that shows in how seriously I take every single deal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
SellWithZoli is a real estate brand built around one core idea: that the people buying and selling homes in the South Bay and on the Palos Verdes Peninsula deserve better than the traditional approach.
What that means in practice is a combination of things most agents don’t offer together. On one side, I bring genuinely deep local knowledge. I hold the PVPAR PV Specialist designation, which covers the history, geology, governance, and community nuances of all four Peninsula cities in real depth. When I tell a client about the difference between buying in Rancho Palos Verdes versus Palos Verdes Estates, or explain what the Art Jury means for a renovation project, or walk someone through a landslide zone disclosure, that comes from real study and real experience. Not a quick Zillow lookup.
On the other side, I run every listing like a marketing campaign. Professional photography, drone imagery, AI-assisted pricing analysis, and targeted digital advertising aimed at the specific buyers most likely to want that home. I came from tech, and I use those tools every day. The result is that my sellers get more visibility, better-qualified interest, and stronger offers.
I also work with real estate investors who are looking to create value in the South Bay, whether through renovations, strategic repositioning, or identifying undervalued opportunities in a market that most investors underestimate.
What I am most proud of, honestly, is the reviews. The five-star Google reviews from my clients and business partners tell the story better than I can. People trust me with one of the biggest decisions of their lives, and they come back and refer their friends. That feedback is the foundation on which the brand is built. You can read them at sellwithzoli.com.
I also host the Palos Verdes Podcast with SellWithZoli, where I cover real estate trends, community stories, and life on the Peninsula. It started as a way to stay connected to the community I serve, and it has become something I genuinely love doing.
If you are thinking about selling a home on the Peninsula or anywhere in the South Bay, or if you are relocating to this area and want someone who actually knows every neighborhood, every street, and every quirk of this market, SellWithZoli.com is the place to start.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in Hungary during communism, which meant that traveling to the United States was not something ordinary people got to do. You simply could not get a passport. The West was out of reach for almost everyone.
But my father was an engineer and a salesman for Ikarus, the Hungarian bus manufacturer, and he was good enough at his job that the government made an exception. Despite not being a member of the Communist Party, he was selected to go to America and sell Hungarian-made buses to US cities. So that is exactly what he did. And he took his family with him.
We traveled across the United States in an articulated bus. If you are not familiar, the articulated bus, the kind with the accordion joint in the middle, is actually a Hungarian invention. And we lived in one for over a year, driving from city to city while my father made his sales calls and I pressed my face against the window watching America go by.
I saw the mountains, the deserts, the small towns, the big cities, the coastlines. I was a kid from Budapest experiencing a country that most people around me would never get to see. It left a mark on me that never went away.
Years later, when I had the choice of where to build my life, I came back. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I had seen enough of this country from a bus window to know I wanted to put down real roots here. That feeling has only grown since. I love exploring new parts of the US, and one day I plan to own real estate in multiple states. For me, a piece of land or a home is not just an investment. It is a stake in a place you believe in.
