Hi Violet , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been doing hair for almost 20 years now. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I went to cosmetology school and was honestly shocked by what I saw, no one had good hair extensions, and there weren’t any proper installation techniques that wouldn’t damage the natural hair. That really motivated me to start doing my own research and experimenting.

Eventually, I began working at Kimble and Kimble, which was one of the top salons back in the day. That’s where I learned about micro-beaded individual extensions one of the least damaging installation techniques out there. But even after mastering that method, I still wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the hair I was using.

I kept thinking back to my visits to Moscow, where I’d always noticed how women had such beautiful, long, natural hair. So I started making semi-annual trips to Russia to source true virgin Russian hair the kind that’s never been processed or chemically treated. I would bring it back to Los Angeles, hand make extensions, and install them for my clients.

The transformation was incredible. My clients were beyond satisfied and would always tell me they’d never felt extensions like these before. At the time, everything on the U.S. market was either plastic or overly processed factory hair, so this was something completely new.

A few years later, I decided to take it to the next level and created my brand, Chaviv Hair, where I continued not only to install extensions but also to sell our premium Russian hair extensions worldwide.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course, it wasn’t always easy. One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was trying to educate clients — and even potential clients — on the difference in hair quality. A lot of people didn’t understand why Russian hair cost more; they assumed what was already out there was just as good. And that’s totally normal to think when you haven’t actually felt the difference on yourself. But every single client who made the investment and tried Russian hair never turned back.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Chaviv Hair?
What truly sets us apart from others is the quality and rarity of our hair. You really have to experience it yourself to understand the difference! I’m most proud of how I’ve built such an incredible brand and loyal following over the years through my hair extensions. It’s been amazing to see how much people love and trust our product, and I hope to continue educating more clients about the real differences in hair extensions and the value of investing in true quality.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
It’s hard to find anything to dislike, because I truly love our city — the community, the diversity, and all the different cultures and traditions that make Los Angeles so special. The endless variety of cuisines alone means you can never get tired of eating here! What does make me sad, though, is seeing how many people are struggling to stay in L.A. It’s becoming harder and harder, but I really do hope things get better one day.
