Exploring Life & Business with Vasyl Hryn of Grin Dental Lab Corporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vasyl Hryn.

Hi Vasyl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t start in a modern lab with digital scanners and automated workflows. My career began with manual ceramic work, long hours at the bench, and learning how small details in form and occlusion can change a patient’s entire outcome.

Over time, I combined clinical training in prosthodontics with advanced laboratory work, focusing on esthetics, function, and precision. I became involved in complex restorative cases, full arch implant supported prosthetics, zirconia and lithium disilicate restorations, and interdisciplinary planning between dentists and technicians.

Teaching naturally became part of my path. As my experience grew, I began training other professionals in ceramic layering and digital restorative protocols, helping them improve both efficiency and clinical results.

After moving to the United States, I continued working in high end restorative dentistry and later founded Grin Dental Lab in San Francisco. Today, my work is focused on integrating digital technology with hand layered ceramics, improving predictability in complex cases, and contributing to professional education through teaching and collaboration.

What still motivates me is the same thing that started it all, creating restorations that work well, look natural, and help clinicians deliver better outcomes for their patients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging part of my path was adapting my professional experience to new systems and standards while maintaining the same level of quality and precision in my work. Every environment has its own expectations, workflows, and communication styles, and learning to operate effectively within them takes time.

Building professional relationships, aligning digital and clinical protocols, and earning trust through consistent results were all part of that process. Rather than obstacles, these challenges became opportunities to refine my approach, improve efficiency, and strengthen collaboration between the laboratory and clinical sides of dentistry.

Looking back, those challenges played a key role in shaping how I work today and in building a more structured, predictable, and scalable professional practice.

We’ve been impressed with Grin Dental Lab Corporation , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Grin Dental Lab Corporation is a boutique dental laboratory based in San Francisco, focused on complex restorative and implant supported prosthetics. The lab works closely with clinicians on cases that require a high level of precision, functional planning, and natural esthetics.

Our specialization includes full arch implant restorations, zirconia and lithium disilicate prosthetics, advanced ceramic layering, and digitally integrated workflows using CAD CAM technologies. A key part of our approach is close collaboration between the laboratory and the clinical team to ensure predictable functional and esthetic outcomes.

What sets the lab apart is the integration of digital precision with hand layered ceramic work. Rather than relying on standardized solutions, each case is treated individually, with attention to occlusion, morphology, and long term performance.

Brand wise, I am most proud of building a practice centered on consistency, communication, and education. Beyond production, the lab is also involved in professional training and knowledge sharing, supporting dentists and technicians in improving restorative workflows and clinical results.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I appreciate most about San Francisco is the concentration of highly driven professionals and the culture of continuous improvement. There is a strong focus on quality, innovation, and collaboration, which creates an environment where high standards are expected and valued. I also enjoy how closely professional life is connected with nature, architecture, and diverse communities, which helps maintain balance and perspective.

What I like least is the pace and complexity that come with operating in a large, fast moving city. Everything requires careful planning, patience, and adaptability. At the same time, those challenges tend to push professionals to become more structured, efficient, and intentional in how they work.
