Exploring Life & Business with Sammi Cohen of Social Currency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammi Cohen

Hi Sammi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I went to undergrad at USC (Fight On!) and went to UC Berkeley for my MBA. During the pandemic, I was working in Big Tech, and I felt as though I needed a creative outlet, so I started posting videos about topics that I found interesting: business and culture. I’ve now been growing my platform (sammicohentalks) for 2+ years across Tiktok and Instagram. I also recently started a newsletter called Social Currency, which covers the intersection of business and culture by recapping current events/articles and company deep dives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No! I’ve definitely had a lot of learnings along the way – it’s been tough to build a platform and post consistently while having a fulltime job, but I try to find ways to batch content and create additional videos over the weekend so I’m not too crazed during the work week.

As you know, we’re big fans of Social Currency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Social Currency is my media platform. Currently, it primarily exists as a newsletter, but I also do social media consulting for brands and find ways to make their content stand out so they can attract new customers. I love helping other brands and companies to find new, creative ways to connect with customers on social media. I come up with video ideas and strategies for brands to post on their own social channels, and I also create my own user-generated content for brands to post on their own social channels. I find that when you take an authentic stance as a brand and meet your customers where they are, it can create tremendous benefit for both the company and customer.

How do you think about happiness?
I am happiest when I am able to connect with others. I love creating video content that is educational and entertaining!
