Exploring Life & Business with Ryan McCoy of RynoRyder Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan McCoy.

Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My personal story is complex, to say the least, and includes events that I still to this day can’t fully explain. My professional story, however, is one of great persistence. I have been living and working in LA as an independent filmmaker for almost 20 years now, I have written and produced five feature length films, along with a slew of shorts/music videos and other film & video projects. Earlier this year, a film I wrote and produced came out on streaming services in the U.S., titled, “The Party”. The film is based off the YA novel by author, Tom Leveen, and was shot over five years ago, in December of 2020.

In March of last year (2025), I co-wrote, directed and acted in another feature film, “Say Something”, which will be released in the U.S. later this year. I am planning on shooting another feature in October/November, for release in the first half of 2027.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, the road has not been smooth at all, but I would not be the person I am today, had I not walked the path I did. The struggles are too many to list here, but ultimately I will say, the biggest struggle I’ve learned to overcome is my own fears and doubts.

Years ago, I experienced an event which I dare say was “spiritual” in nature, and it put me on a course of self-discovery and understanding not only what I am, but we we all are and what we are doing here. I have overcome obstacles in my physical life, as well as my mental and spiritual lives.

The greatest “material” challenge I have overcome was that of alcoholism. Through circumstance and internal traumas, I found myself in a prison of consuming alcohol for 20 years. Today, I have over seven years of sobriety under me and feel like I am just getting started with my career and my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
RynoRyder Media is the vehicle in which I drive my ambitions through. It is more than just a business name. To me, RynoRyder represents a mindset, an attitude, a way of approaching life, a symbol that shows what true independence and freedom of will look like.

Along with producing films, I have been documenting my journey online for the last 7-8 years on YouTube, @rynoryder. The things I’m most proud of is the response people have to it and to me when they learn about my brand and the engine I have built.

I want your readers, and anyone else who ever hears about my company, to learn to associate my brand with a certain level of story-telling and “entertainment”. A level that commits itself, wholly, to the audience. I believe in the power of STORY and believe that has been stricken from most major films released today, at least in the U.S. Films no longer consider the actual magic that occurs when a human consumes a properly structured story and the impact it can have on them. My intentions are to put this at the forefront, whilst removing the longing for idolatry and hopelessness I feel most studio films leave the audience with today.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Any memory in which I can understand the meaning behind it and not be too affected by it one way or the other. Where I understand how it fits into my story as a whole. I try not to live in the past, or the future. I strive to be present, every day.
