Exploring Life & Business with Raphaëlle Dufosset of Petit Parisien

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raphaëlle Dufosset. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Petit Parisien was founded by Barbara & Raphaëlle two French women who crossed the Atlantic Ocean with their families.

B & R are two moms who moved from Paris to Burbank, California, in early 2019.

They immediately loved their new lives and neighborhood but miss the little Parisian shops, full of treasures, that they grew so accustomed to back in France.

That’s why they decided to open their own place, trying to replicate the mood you’d find in their dearest city of love.

And because they also wanted to shop for their kids and share their favorite French brands, they decided to bring them to the shop.

So, Petit Parisien is all about bringing a little piece of Paris and French touch in Magnolia Park!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. First, because it was not our field, both of us have had other jobs before, very different from having a shop. I’m a Colorist, and Barbara is a Social Worker. Running a Business was new for us, so we had to learn everything from scratch! And also because we thought the pandemic would end two months after the opening…but it is already almost a year, and the pandemic is still here…

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Petit Parisien?
Our point has always been to introduce our favorite French brands to Us citizen. We want to share with our neighbors some beautiful French designs and carry some gifts for the whole family. We want everyone to be able to find something cute with a French accent to make them happy.

Because we have young kids, we have a lot of baby gear, kids toys and games (usually made in wood, super cute and educational), very interesting in term of design, and that we couldn’t find around our place.

We also have some books in English, in French or Bilingual, because we love to read and think that it is very important for children.

Some of the LA French schools are located in or around Burbank, so we are glad to be able to offer them some readings.

We are very specific and unique as everything is from France or from French designers located in California, so it has that European style.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to us is to work with great brands, sustainable, designing high-quality traditional products from our country, and to be able to introduce that to our amazing community. We really appreciate when our customers fall in love with our selection.
