Exploring Life & Business with Marcus Henderson of Drone Drip

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Henderson.

Marcus Henderson

Hi Marcus, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I moved from the DC area to LA in 2017, it was a bit of a change. I left behind the corporate lifestyle for something more relaxed. Working from home gave me the chance to pursue my hobbies during the transition. LA has been great for connecting with like-minded people and developing new ideas. Flying has always been a fascination of mine, especially drones. As an air sign Gemini, I naturally developed a passion for it. Capturing footage from above has only fueled my love of exploring and traveling around California. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a business opportunity. I made sure to educate myself about FAA regulations and obtained my Part 107 license to become a commercial drone pilot. When I got my license, I started exploring all the business opportunities available. Now, I balance my life as a project manager and drone operator.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Just like any business, you’re going to make mistakes or fail. I failed many times, but I learned a lesson in the process. Running a drone company isn’t easy, but I love what I do so I embrace the challenges when they arise. One of the biggest hurdles is getting your name out there in a competitive market space. On top of that, it’s getting respect in this industry. We drone pilots take the same test that actual Airmen pilots take and add photography, videography, & cinematography to the mix. I credit my background in Project Management helped me identify areas of improvement to make my business more profitable.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Drone Drip is an organization of licensed drone pilots, photographers, and videographers who provide aerial services, including photography & cinematography. We mainly support local communities in LA but have also worked in other states and countries. Our organization provides educational tutorials for the preparation of the Part 107 certification test. Also, we provide valuable insights into flying techniques. As the founder of Drone Drip, I’m looking to continue to grow the business and develop more partnerships in the future. We are a black-owned entity representing southern California.

The type of work we handle is real estate, construction, sporting events, concerts, and multiple forms of marketing.

We also look forward to operating drone shows in the future. We’re open to connecting with investors.

Let me introduce my team & current partnerships:

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?

Being able to wake up and count my blessings. That’s the most important part of my happiness. My family & God! I’m always in a good mood, so it’s hard to not see me happy. The simple things are making coffee in the morning, watching NFL football, and cooking. I’m a big sports fan from my roots growing up in Ohio.

Lakers – Kobe & Shaq era
CAVS – LeBron era

Happiness equals a nice beach day or hike. Listening to a good audible book. Creating a dope playlist for the gym. I’m also a vinyl collector.

Of course, flying drones and seeing the views are therapeutic for me.
