Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Andi Miro of Apa Aesthetic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Andi Miro

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason. I can vividly recall the moment I realized I wanted to dedicate my career to cosmetic dentistry. It was during my second year at NYU Dental School when I attended a guest lecture by Dr. Michael Apa. As he showcased high-fashion images, shared stories of global travel to places like Dubai, and described transforming smiles for patients from all walks of life, he made dentistry feel aspirational and cool. I thought, This is what I want to do. If someone had told me then that, 13 years later, I’d be leading the Apa team in Beverly Hills, I would have laughed in disbelief.

Getting a chance to spend time at Apa Aesthetic in New York was no small feat. After sending 25 emails and making 37 phone calls to their office, I finally secured the opportunity to shadow at the clinic. From day one, I was captivated. Watching patients walk in with discolored, cracked, or misaligned teeth and leave with temporary restorations that not only improved their smiles but also refreshed their overall appearance was transformative. I was hooked. To make myself useful, I took dental photos throughout the day, witnessing these incredible transformations firsthand. By the end of the day, I was bursting with excitement. Seeing how much a dentist could enhance someone’s appearance simply by aligning teeth correctly was incredibly powerful.

For the rest of dental school and through my residency, I spent every Tuesday at Apa Aesthetic, soaking up knowledge from Dr. Michael Apa and Dr. Larry Rosenthal. After completing my residency, I was offered the chance to join the team as the first female dentist in the office’s history. Over the next nine years, I worked alongside Dr. Apa and Dr. Rosenthal as we expanded the practice, opening locations in Dubai, Los Angeles, and Miami. Eventually, I moved to Los Angeles to co-lead the Beverly Hills branch.

In 2019, I channeled my passion for teaching into founding Stribe, a dental continuing education platform. Through Stribe, I aim to share the cosmetic dentistry techniques we’ve perfected at Apa Aesthetic with dentists worldwide. This journey has also taken me across the globe, lecturing about our unique approach to cosmetic dentistry. Each day, I’m grateful to be part of a field that combines artistry and science to make such a profound impact on people’s lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Malcolm Gladwell famously said it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill, and cosmetic dentistry is no exception. Success in this field requires a sharp aesthetic eye, honed over years of experience, to understand what enhances or detracts from a patient’s overall facial harmony. Early in my career, this was particularly challenging. Communicating effectively with patients about their goals and guiding them toward designs that complement their features took time and practice.

Cosmetic dentistry is also uniquely demanding because the stakes are high. A misstep in tooth color or position can drastically alter a patient’s appearance. Over the years, I’ve developed the expertise to handcraft smiles that are bespoke at the highest level.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Apa Aesthetic was founded on a simple yet profound belief: It’s not about the teeth; it’s about the life the teeth inspire you to live. Combining passion and purpose, we’ve set out to redefine the standard in dentistry through innovation, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional customer service. Cosmetic dentistry sits at the intersection of artistry and science, and our mission is to create one-of-a-kind smiles for patients around the globe.

In my decade with Apa Aesthetic, I’ve watched the practice grow from a single location to four offices worldwide. What sets us apart is our commitment to facially driven treatment. We design smiles that not only enhance teeth but elevate the entire face’s aesthetic. Our onsite labs enable us to transform smiles in as little as a week, offering unparalleled customization and precision. We’re more than dentists—we’re artists, dedicated to crafting smiles that change lives.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
As a former competitive swimmer and water polo player, I learned early on that discipline is key to achieving your goals. The same principle applies to cosmetic dentistry. It takes years to refine your aesthetic judgment and develop a personal style when designing smiles. This is what sets each dentist apart.

For those just starting, focus on building strong technical and communication skills. Learning to articulate treatment plans in a way that patients can understand and visualize is critical. Invest in yourself—whether through continuing education, mentorship, or hands-on experience. Setting clear expectations and fostering trust with patients are the foundations for success in this field. Above all, be patient with your growth. Mastery takes time, but the results are worth it.
