Exploring Life & Business with Angelica Rodriguez of Angelica’s Daycare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Rodriguez.

Hi Angelica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Angelica’s Daycare in 1989 with a simple but meaningful goal which was to create a safe, loving environment where children could feel at home while their parents worked hard to provide for their families. What began as a small, home-based daycare quickly grew through word of mouth, trust, and the relationships I built with each family.
In the early years, it wasn’t always easy. Like many small business owners, I balanced long days, personal sacrifices, and the responsibility of caring for multiple children at once. But I truly loved what I was doing, and that passion kept me going. I treated every child as if they were my own, and that became the foundation of everything.
Over the years, Angelica’s Daycare has evolved into more than just a childcare space it’s become a community. I’ve had the privilege of caring for generations of families, watching children grow up and later bring their own children back through our doors. That is something I don’t take lightly.
Today, I’m incredibly proud to continue this journey alongside my daughters, who share the same passion and vision for childcare. Together, we’ve blended experience with a modern approach, creating a nurturing, structured, and enriching environment for the children we serve. Looking back, what started as a small dream has grown into a lasting legacy and I’m grateful every day to be able to do this work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, there were times that were challenging, especially in the beginning. Building trust with families, working long hours, and balancing business with my own family responsibilities was not always easy. English is not my first language, so communication was sometimes a challenge, but I stayed patient and kept learning. Over time, the families I worked with supported me, and that gave me confidence to keep going.
There were also ups and downs in the economy and changes in childcare over the years, but I always stayed focused on what mattered most caring for the children with LOVE and CONSISTENCY. Every challenge taught me something and helped me grow. I believe those experiences made me stronger and helped shape Angelica’s Daycare into what it is today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Angelica’s Daycare is a home-based childcare program where we focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment for young children during their most important early years. Our goal is to help each child feel comfortable, confident, and supported while they learn and grow.

We are known for the strong relationships we build with our families. Many of our clients come from referrals, and over the years we have cared for multiple generations. That trust is something I value very deeply.

What makes us different is the way we combine structure with genuine care. We follow a daily routine that includes early learning, play, and social development, while also giving each child personal attention. We also offer a Spanish immersion environment, so children are naturally exposed to a second language in their everyday activities.

I am most proud that we have stayed consistent in our values for over 30 years. This daycare was built with love, patience, and dedication, and today I am proud to continue it with my daughters. Together, we bring both experience and a fresh approach to what we do.

I want families to know that this is not just a daycare it is a place where children are truly cared for, and where families can feel peace of mind knowing their child is in a nurturing and dependable environment.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
For me, networking has always come naturally through the relationships I’ve built over time. I believe the best connections come from being genuine, kind, and consistent in your work. In the beginning, I learned a lot by observing others and asking questions when I needed help. You don’t always need a formal mentor sometimes guidance comes from the people around you, including other providers, families, and your community. What has worked best for me is building trust. When you do your work with care and integrity, people notice, and those relationships grow over time. My advice is to stay open to learning, be patient with yourself, and don’t be afraid to reach out or ask for support. Strong connections are built little by little, and they can make a big difference over time.
