Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Hunter.

Adam Hunter

Hi Adam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The journey into the world of interior design was a remarkable twist in the tale of my life. For years, I had basked in the spotlight of Broadway, taking on lead roles and captivating audiences with my performances. The adrenaline rush, the applause, and the thrill of being on stage had been my world, but little did I know that my destiny had other plans in store for me.

It all started with a subtle yet significant shift in my perspective. The drama that had been the center of my life began to evolve, transforming into a passion for creating spectacles of a different kind. I found myself increasingly drawn to the world of interior design, where the stage was no longer a platform for actors but rather the canvas upon which my artistic visions would come to life.

My journey into interior design was marked by restrained drama, a carefully choreographed progression that led me to where I am today. The turning point came when I was thoughtfully given with the task of designing the renowned Kate Somerville spa on Melrose Place. It was there that I discovered the potential to infuse spaces with character, emotion, and a unique sense of style, much like I had done on Broadway.

As word spread about my unique approach to interior design, I began to attract the attention of Hollywood’s elite. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Neil Patrick Harris, Sutton Foster, Travis Barker, and Christina Hendricks sought my expertise in transforming their homes into havens of style and comfort. The restrained drama that I brought to each project resonated with my clients, and I found myself at the forefront of the Los Angeles design community.

In 2014, I was honored to be included in House Beautiful’s coveted Next Wave list, a recognition that solidified my presence in the design world. Subsequently, I earned a place on the Luxe Interior + Design Gold List in both 2015 and 2019, further establishing my reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

My work garnered attention from renowned publications, including The New York Times, InStyle, Elle Decor, and Vogue. In 2017, my personal residence was even featured in Architectural Digest, a testament to how far I had come in my new career.

Looking back, I realize that my journey from the bright lights of Broadway to the world of interior design was not a departure from my love for drama but rather an evolution of it. Each project I undertake is a carefully orchestrated performance where every element plays a role in telling a story. The stage may have changed, but the passion for creating memorable experiences remains the same.

Today, as I continue to design extraordinary interiors across the country, I am grateful for the path that led me here. The restrained drama of my designs speaks to my love for both the theater and the world of design, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition from bright lights to interior design was not without its challenges. I had to immerse myself in the world of design, learning the intricacies of color, texture, and spatial dynamics. But my background in theater has given me a keen eye for detail, an innate sense of storytelling, and an ability to understand the nuances of human emotion. These skills proved to be invaluable in my new endeavor. One of the biggest lessons I had to learn is that an interior designer is also a therapist to many.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My interior design business is known for its unique and bespoke approach to creating extraordinary interiors. With a background in Broadway and a deep passion for drama, I specialize in infusing spaces with character, emotion, and a sense of storytelling. My designs are a fusion of creativity, attention to detail, and a keen understanding of how to evoke specific moods and experiences within a space.

What sets me apart from others in the interior design industry is my background in theater. This foundation allows me to view each project as a carefully orchestrated performance, with every element playing a role in telling a story. I bring a touch of restrained drama to my designs, creating spaces that not only look beautiful but also have a unique narrative that resonates with my clients and their guests.

I take pride in the recognition and accolades I have received over the years, including being featured in publications like The New York Times, InStyle, Elle Decor, Vogue, and Architectural Digest. I have made prestigious lists like House Beautiful’s Next Wave and the Luxe Interior + Design Gold List, cementing my reputation as a prominent figure in the design community.
